hey fellas....new to the site. dont have a wrx yet but im getting one very soon. but the first thing i was planing on doing is an exhaust set up. i love the sound of the wrx and i searched but didnt find what i was looking for. i was wanting to know if any of you have or have heard a wrx with 3 inch straight piped from the cat back. no muffler or resonater. i was also wandering about a side exit exhaust like you see on srt-4s or somethin. anybody ever done that?
straight pipe Im running 3" from the turbo back.. No cats or resonators.. I live in kennesaw if you wanna hear it..
It's LOUD. Right tone, just LOUD or I am getting old. Its probably a combination of me getting old and it being loud. You will pretty much have to run the exhaust out in the standard location. Never heard anyone doing it any other way.
i have a catless up, catted dp, then three inch all the way out no muffler or resonator... here is a crappy vid but you get the idea... not sure if there is a difference in tone from the stock 2.0 to the 2.5 though http://videos.streetfire.net/video/WRX-LOUD-EXHAUST_317265.htm
i would love to but money is the issue unless you know someone that wants to trade for my prodrive dp...
the loud uncorked exhaust gets old on a daily driver/commuter. I loved the sound of my catless dp + hks carbon ti until I realized that I couldnt hear people on the phone and it pissed off my girlfriend, and you cant go anywhere without people knowing that youve arrived 30 seconds before you actually do
i love that though... and i dont have any drone in my car what so ever and since it runs out the back its not overly loud in my car if im just cruising... everyone is surprised at the low volume when they ride in my car
Same thing for me.. Its pretty quiet with the windows up. i dont know if I could go back to having a muffler it would be to quiet
drove my friends tc yesterday and kept hitting the limiter before shifting lol... couldnt hear the car...
The more I think about it I think i mad the exhaust in 3 1/2".. oh well but its got a nice sound. i think the up pipe is next on my list..
The 2.5L is just louder. I followed Jason Porter around when he had a straight pipe on his Forester. I could not hear my stock 06 WRX over his.
It's a good thing the APS 3.5in comes with a silencer, otherwise my 5hr trips up to North Carolina would get annoying. Daily driving if fine by me but at 80mph for 5hrs is a bit much.
i have a turboxs 4" down pipe, cat pipe, mid mipe , then i had a muffler shop make a 3" straight pipe the rest of the way. its actually quieter than my old exhaust with a n1 style 4" can at idle but when you go wide open throttle its a screaming deamon. i love the sound of it now.
P&L Motorsports makes a 3" straight pipe from the cat back. heres the link http://www.pandlmotorsports.com/osC..._info.php?cPath=21_89_201_236&products_id=451
I'm not bashing you its just a little crazy to pay that much for a piece of pipe. Maybe one of our new vendors building rotated kits could spend a few minutes and build a straight pipe for less than half the cost. I would buy one for use only on the track so it wouldn't need to be made from stainless steel.
if you want it done let me know and i can hook you up with the shop i worked at and who did mine... wont cost anything near that at all
Im a welder/fabricator on the side so i mad my own out or 3 1/2 for like 100 and some change. i wouldnt pay that much either
Reinforced aluminum foil should only cost $4 a roll from Publix and you wouldn't need more than 10 rolls.
I also remember when Nemesis had his exhaust made it only cost around $150 too. It was just a straight pipe with a resonator at the tip
nope so anyone that wants a hook up with custom exhaust work let me know... it may not be 60 bucks but i can swing a good deal
got my forester 2.5" cat back exhaust done for $110 and my wrx straight pipe from mid pipe back for $90.
got my straight axle back with a flange made so i could take it off if i wanted to put a muffler back on done for $90
yeah hit them up... i worked at the g & s in canton so the kennesaw is closer but if they are busy let me know and the canton shop can probably get you right in... if not i will come pick you up its two minutes from my house!
