Possible serious snow storm next week.

I got an email from a friend that said early next week we MAY get some decent snowfall. They compared it to the 93 blizzard or at least 70% of that storm IF it hits us.
In reading the blog on wsb they say from the looks of all the models that the SE will see a massive snowing/iceing but that he expects it to move north of us, but there is always that chance.

I am personally looking forward to a few days off to do some snow drifting.

How far north of you are you talking about? I am barely over an hour from TN where I live(an hour and 15 mins if you drive the speed limit).

BTW, aggressive summer tires + snow= me staying at home. AWD or not I would stay home with any amount of snow or ice on the road.

I have summer tires too I will just be careful until I get to the mall parking lot or something similar.

Oh they said AL, TN, carolina's all have a better chance BUT there is always a chance.

I live so far away from everything that I would rather stay home. :wiggle:

I checked the weather websites I watch and they say snow showers for Monday night and/or Tuesday. I expect this to hit the news bu Sat night or Sunday if the models keep saying the same things.

This is from the blog: Like the perfect storm in a way, that is IF it happens.

    Kirk's Weather Blog:
The potential snowstorm I've been blogging about since Sunday that some models initially showed for Friday has now been moved to Monday or Tuesday. All 3 Jet streams combine (jet coupling and ageostrophic adjustments) for a major planetary wave amplification over the Eastern USA next week could mean storm with 70% of the intensity of the Blizzard of 93-- DO NOT read that as Kirk is forecasting a blizzard in Atlanta that's not what I wrote. Because the projected system (does not exist in the real world right now!) also is similar to other HISTORICc Nor Easters like storms in 2000, 2006, 1978, 1996, and 1950 etc. that did NOT slam Atlanta. PRELIMINARY signs point to AR, MS, AL, TN, KY, NC, SC, VA with some ice for GA Mountains and a dusting or less for Atlanta but this could change. One thing worth noting is that there is now consensus that some "system" will develop over the weekend or Monday and it will probably be a monster for somebody, as it tracks somewhere across the South and East USA early next week. Virtually every model out there shows some similar low pressure and frontal system but of course track, timing, moisture and intensity all differ.

shit I would take a set of bald tires to go play in some snow. There is usually no one on the road when there is a real snowstorm (here in ga anyways).

Not sweating it... Granted I wasn't here in 93', but... every time I here about a "SERIOUS!" snow storm here, it turns out to be nothing... maybe a few inches that goes away immediately.. Right when I moved here, I looked on the news one AM to see "WINTER STORM 2000!!!!!!!!!!!!!" with people running out to buy bread/water/milk etc.. I walk outside and it wasn't even enough to stick to the roads...

I lived in upstate NY during the storm of 93... we got 3 feet of snow.. getting a dusting down here that melts in three hours is not a storm.

In 93 we got an average of 12-18" of snow where I live in northern Bartow Co.

I don't mind a couple of inches but when it gets to double digits, I worry.

I am going to keep an eye on the weather widgets for the next few days.

shit I was running around everywhere in my 81 rx7, a rope and a shovel and had no problems. I even pulled some guys out of the ditch with it.

<---Closing in on 2000 posts, only took 4yrs.

nothing here like up north but that was one hell of a storm and lasted several days, when the streets have over 6" packed it is a storm

Right now NOAA says it's going to rain in GA next week :)

I think techlord works for the bread and milk industry. I thought you guys only got 3-5 inches in GA during the "super storm" of 93.

You're going to be a whole lot better off than most of the people on here :)

My one experience with snow driving on re92s wasn't bad at all.

RE92's are not that bad on snow or gravel as it turns out. They just suck in the rain and on dry pavement.

I will be in sunny San Diego, otherwise known in Spanish as a whale's vagina. So, I will miss out on the snowstorm.

  33. I live in Pickens county so maybe I will get snowed in.Though everyone at work thinks Subaru owners cannot get snowed in..

i have a set with close to bald tires and then my 19"s with Toyo Proxes with good tread. I think i'll stick with 19's for snow drifting lol. Snow meet anyone? lol
