Can you guys recommend a good shop for a front bearing change?

My 04 Sti is beginning to make the bearing noises on turns. Just curious if you guys can suggest a good local shop to do the work? I wish this were a diy, but alas, I don't have a 6 ton press :(

Also, any ideas on the costs?

If you are willing to try, and pEd is willing to make another attempt, we could try to replace the bearing at pEds.

I bought pEd a 10 ton press because I had a bad bearing a couple months ago. We tried to press the bearing off, but ended up breaking the Bearing Separator and not being able to get it off.

So at this point, I still have the bearings I bought sealed and unopened that I can sell you if we can get your bearing off.

We were wondering if it was just a fluke problem with my bearing, and you could provide the perfect opportunity to try and press out another bearing.

Definately a fluke as well as a pain in the ass. A plasma cutter may be the only way to seperate that one :p

^^ haha.... I don't have a plasma cutter (yet!!) and I don't see one listed under Nicad's list of cool-tools, so it's time to think of something else.

bet you my machine shop is bigger. :)

it's not mine but I have unlimited access to it at work on the weekends. plasma cutter, AC/DC watercooled tig, sand blast booth, overhead hoists, pipe benders, you name it. it's the machine shop for the brewery so it has everything needed to basically rebuild the whole plant. we have a stainless steel warehouse with $5million of inventory in it
