I have no problem redoing some pinouts. I just can't for the life of me do RHD. I tried it once, it was not pretty.
So here's a potential problem, folks. My brand new Griffin Radiator. Don't suppose I could get it to work with this new engine, could I? WJM, King, and LiquidForce's input would be appreciated. I've heard that Griffin is made up mostly of a bunch of assclowns, so I'd rather not call them and ask about voiding my warranty.
ordered a vent scoop today (so I can direct more air to the short ram I'm building for this) and talked to one of the industrial design majors about fabricating a hood scoop splitter so that I can use a stock WRX TMIC with the swap.
So here's an update. With the economic collapse, my funding has run out for my swap. I've paid for half of it, and now it's just...sitting. In New Jersey. If anyone has any ideas on how to raise money to finish this up, that would be awesome.
Swap's out of the question - getting the money back and am using it to fund more recording time for my band. Hi how are you guys doing.
Check fluids, air in tires, make sure all bolts are tightened to correct torque specs, maybe some new gaskets if it is leaking anywhere, and a tranny and rearend fluid change if you havn't all ready done that.
Just did the transmission and fluid change last week. Oil happens this weekend. Bolts...I dunno yet. Nothing's leaking. I'm firmly convinced that this car is bulletproof. But I mean...belts and all that? Anyone?
I was just checking its always good to check all they important parts. Its time for an oil change for me too. Gotta get the oil and the filter, RoyalPurple all the way! I check my belts all the time for cracking and slack. I think the 1st gen Impreza's are safer than a Volvo My friend lost control of my old FWD sedan and slamed in to the side of a 10foot dirt and clay embankment and did no damage to the Impreza but it did knock the aftermarket fog light lenses off
Something in my transmission is feisty right now. Starting the car, something in the engine bay makes a little whirring noise like a helicopter. As soon as I release the clutch, it goes away and doesn't come back until next time I start the car. Also, one of the belts is squeaking whenever the car idles with the clutch out (shifter in neutral). Any idea what this might be? There's 60k miles on the transmission, just put new fluid in it - no shavings or anything in the old fluid - and about 6k on the clutch and flywheel.
they're not squeaky on startup, just when it idles. I'll check them tomorrow - but, uh...can't say I know how to tighten them
She still needs a name. Big day tomorrow - oil change, new engine mount, and I'm going to paint that hideous chrome intake I built. Still looking for rear hubs for a disc conversion, kids!
Did you replace the trhoughout bearing when you installed the clutch?just a thought. there is a Legacy Wagon AWD at Hugh Jones Salvage with disk brakes on the rear you might be able to grab those at a good price. They will fit. I pulled the Fuel level sending unit out of it. It looks like a mid to late 90's Legacy.
Okay, didn't go catless - but I got all my resonators removed. And some headers are being built for me. :3
So I've got this amp. Who can help me hook it up? And should I invest in a sub? I really need all my trunk-space, so it would be a small one for under one of the seats. Maybe. Ideas would be appreciated.
Got my amp installed. Think I might need a high-output alternator since the headlights seem dimmer now. Meh. Still sounds great. Putting on my catless track pipe tomorrow!
I just saw this thread, and went page by page. And sir, i like your taste. Also, i am glad you didn't go with hat ricey ass front bumper.
Thanks. I would have needed a frontmount to justify installing it. Which I don't have. Yet. Also, if anyone wants to help me grab some brakes from Pull-A-Part North in Norcross, let me know - I can't wrench the sonsabitches off this old Legacy. As soon as I figure out how to take my TB bolts off, I'll have a pedobear engine cover installed. Track pipe not installed yet. Looking at some dual-port heads. It's a direct swap between EJ22E's, right?
here are new pictures. This is my mostly-fixed cluster. These are my new roof rails, one of which flew off on 85. Brakes I found at a junkyard. I haven't gotten them yet. My exhaust before today: My exhaust after: and this is my new engine cover.
Hey Xan if you are really interested in turboing you car I have JDM WRX heads that will bolt on, 06 wrx top mount intercooler, head to turbo exhuast, a VF11 that will clear the intake manifold and a wrinkle red manifold. PM me if you are interested in any of this stuff.
Threw in a Sunpro tach today since I was tired of my car saying I was idling at 3k. Turns out it's a bit closer to 2k at first, then drops down to 1k. Sounds right to me. Pain in the ass to figure out how to do it, though. Pics later.
So here's the ridiculous part. I'm going Twin Turbo. Phil at Element is going to cook me up a Hydra that can handle it, but I'm using an EJ255 block, 100mm Mahle Pro Series Pistons, STi crank and rod, and everything else is going to be scavenged from an EJ20H from a 95 JDM LGT. This is a very distant project. I have other needs. But it's being pieced together, slowly but surely.
