http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes...+RE-01R&PID=361116&SID=FW7o1rmy&AID=10396151& some DAMN good prices on them...get them while they're hot!
wow, some of those are 50% off. Too bad most are out of stock and the good size (245/40/17) has "less than 2" available
They are pretty close to the Neova, I like the Neova better but for the price these are a smoking deal. It wouldn't be a bad idea to buy a set of these as backups for the track wheels.
Yes but they are out of stock. I am calling my friend that has an account with Tirerack to see if he can call his sales rep and hold a set for me.
I just called Kieran and he said that you are SOL if they dont have any in stock. He is calling Tire rack and talking to their rep to see if they will actually get any in next week. If so, he is having them send him a set for me.
^^^ as did I...he said he's had quite a few calls on these this morning. I gave him my name, number and tire size and told him to let me know if he could get any in
DANG! The 17s I got were 200 each! Someone should buy my 17" STi bbs some I can get a set of these for the 18"s. :sx:
235/45 and 245/40 17s are not available. I'm going to try again later in the day just because that's a freaking awesome deal.
It says on the website that it wont be available until next week but Keiran thinks they will not get anymore in.
Really? What are they comparable to? They guy who had them used them on an M3 and went staggered, not needing them any more. I called him Saturday morn, w/o any reseach on them. $150 for half tread left seemed a good snag, seeing as how it was last minute, lol.
According to Hyundai, the short list of Genesis coupe competitors includes the Infiniti G37, BMW 335i coupe, Ford Mustang GT, Mazda RX-8, and Mitsubishi Eclipse GT, though a comparison of specs reveals the G37 matters most. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupes/112_0805_2009_hyundai_genesis_coupe_first_look/index.html
WUUUHUUU Kieran just called me back and said he has 4 tires coming for me in a 235-40-18!!! He said the tire rack sales rep swore they would have them next Friday. He also got your tires Rick.
Damn those are some awesome deals! Looks like they are clearing out their stock for the replacement tire, which by the way looks amazing!
WUUUHUUU - ME TOO!! Yeah, Mike, I got the 245/40/17 He said he got me a set and they should be in next week!!! Give him a call...damn i love GTE
245-40-17 for me too, hopefully the guy isn't yanking his chain. EDIT:added another set 235-40-18...Guess I will be single soon.
oh yeah...sorry. I had a set of the Proxes4 and they surprised the shit out of me considering it's a all season. I compare them to the Falken 451's that I had on the car as well. The 452 is comparable as well, but they are closer to the 451. in the past 4 years, I've had: 451 x2 sets Kumho 711 Toyo Proxes4 Falken 452 wow, in that order no less.
I also had the Proxes 4's on my WRX and thought they were the best tires I had on the WRX. They are much nicer than the Kuhmo SPT's I just took off my car and probably inline with the Pirelli Nero's I have on my car now.
oh yeah! I forgot I had that trash on my car for 3 months. that was between the 2 sets of 451. thanks for the reminder!
The Bstone RE11 is coming out in two weeks, that's why they are clearing out the RE01Rs. I've heard from the grapevine that the RE11 is better than the RE01R... I guess we will find out soon.
I'm interested to hear from people who actually know about tires (other than me, who just knows size and uh...oh yeah, keep air in them) about how they compare up to the Neovas and some of the other excellent track / auto-x tires. Still for $450 a set, this is a bangin' offer. Mine will sit in plastic bags for some time, but when the track set is dead, it's nice to know I have some rubber waiting
Theres a lot of good track tires out there, but if you aren't competing then I would just look for the deals to pop up
That's the beauty of it! The RE11's probably will be better, but new RE-01's will be just as good as they were last year when they were THE tire to have in ST classes.
Yes, that has been known that they will be better. However the prices on those things means you can practically buy 2 Re-01r's for the price of 1 Re11 at the moment.
So are you guys just getting GTE to price match the potenza's and then cut out the shipping through buying with them?
No, GTE is NOT going to loose money on this deal. They never gave me an exact number but I am assuming it will be Tirerack's price+ shipping plus tax. You guys have to understand that they did this as a favor. They are not making money on this so I don't expect them to loose money on this either. There is not a huge mark up between their cost and what tirerack had on their website. I know because I have access to the tirerack wholesale site and saw what cost was.
Hey if anyone else is planning on ordering these tires, please call GTE now. I'm ordering some and would like to benefit from group ordering and save on shipping. Let them know that you are ordering with Russell's order.
I plan to pay what was showing on the site, period. Why would I pay more? Shipping for a company that big is not much I know our company ships hundreds of thousands tons of computers/servers etc... As was stated in another thread local companies have been matching that price locally. Tires plus is one of them.
As do I. When I called I said I saw these tires on tirerack for $xxx.xx and they said okay, we'll get them. I'm not paying markup over an advertised price when other companies around the Atlanta area are price matching.
Right, but you would have to pay the price from tirerack plus shipping plus tax since tirerack has a distrobution center in GA. That is the price that everyone will probably end up paying. Tirerack charges the same shipping if you are a retial customer or a wholesale customer. You can add a set of tires into your cart and figure out what your total will be. Seriously folks, why would GTE loose money on this when they were doing us a favor by ordering them for us?
perhaps someone can call to verify the price situation or if there is any markup. If lets say it is 5 bucks a tire then I wont start shit over 40 bucks it is not worth it, he was simply slammed the day this came out so getting the info while placing order was next to impossible. Kieran and the whole crew are awesome that is for sure!
Here is the deal, I didn't see this thread until today for some reason so I went to discount tires off of peachtree industrial. They priced matched the rack price and was told that 235/45/17 is in stock. Also another 245/45/17 is 78 dollars a tire for their DOT2005 dates, I bought a set of newer 245/45/17 for 98 dollars a tire. Discount does charge $20 per wheel to mount and dismount, so if anyone is looking to get another confirmed source, discount will price match to tirerack, ask for Shaun, a great guy.
I noticed the price went down again for the 245/40 from $116 to $103 and they're in stock! Hopefully GTE got this price for us... Shipped to my door would be $495.
They're most likely going to be getting paid extra for the mounting / balancing, along w/ possible alignments. They're not losing money by any stretch of the imagination
But for someone like me that is not getting them installed yet, they are not going to make anything off of my sale.
Ok, I just got back from GTE and talked to Kieran. He said all of the tires should be here early next week. He will honor the tirerack price + shipping + tax. That is exactly what you would pay if you bought them direct from tire rack. Yes, tirerack charged them shipping on every tire, why wouldnt they? The order was only 24 tires. He will not charge us any extra on the shipping. Honestly folks, I have access to a wholesale account on tirerack and Kieran is making a whooping $8 a tire on me. I will gladly pay that just because all I had to do was call him and tell him what size I needed and he took care of everything else.
