So, I went to the Ben Folds concert tonight, which was amazing. Because it was definitely one of the best shows I've ever been to, it got me thinking what have my other favorite concerts been, which of course, lead me to wonder what other people's favorites have been. What are the top 5 favorite concerts you've seen (in no particular order)? I'll start: Ben Folds - Tabernacle Dave Matthews Band - Piedmont Park Umphrey's McGee - Athens Theater Jack Johnson - Chastain Park Keller Williams - Tabernacle
Pink Floyd - NC State and the Capital Center in DC Jane's Addiction - The Boathouse in Norfolk Va. 311 - Fox Theatre Suicidal Tendencies - Boathouse The first Lallapalooza the oddest would be GWAr - Richmond Va
Roger Waters presents Pink Floyd @ Phillips Tool @ International Ballroom Rage Against the Machine @ Omni (I think) Left Over Salmon @ the venue in little 5 (forget the name) Pantera & Machinehead @ international ballroom - tied- w/ Incubus, 311, Deftones @ Lakewood
Sevendust at on the bricks 2002 I think is was. One of the best shows I have ever seen! But the top of the list was seeing Aaron Lewis solo at the tivale on chart. Got to meet him as well. He's the lead singer for staind for those that don't know
The first Lollapalooza in Colorado Nine Inch Nails - Denver Coliseum Skinny Puppy - Too Dark Park Tour - The Gothic Theatre Skinny Puppy Last Rights Tour - The Gothic Theatre Red Hot Chili Peppers and Foo Fighters in Orlando
AC\DC in Memphis Sevendust at Centerstage 311 at Lakewood Outkast at Lakewood Fatboyslim at Centerstage Carl Cox at Lakewood Zak Wylde at Smiths Old Bar The last downtown music festival thing....the name escapes me at the moment....but it really sucks that we don't get any big music festival downtown anymore. Its crazy when I start thinking back on all the concerts I've been to I feel like I've been very lucky to be able to see as many shows as I have, I still see atleast one show a week somewhere.
Dave Matthews Allman Brothers - Piedmont Park Jimmy Eat World / Green Day / Blink 182 - HiFi Buys Dave Matthews - Lakewood Green Day - Gwinnett Arean Hoobastank / 311 - Tabernacle
Are you talking about Music Midtown or the centinnial on the bricks series? Both of those were freaking awesome while they lasted
Pantera-ozzfest... the last one we had, 99-00 idk trivium-family values tour ozzy-ozzfest 97 soulfly-Tabernacle machine head-Masquerade Icould keep going for days, fom joe satriani to slayer....lol...
Rage Against the Machine - Coachella Flaming Lips - Echo Project LCD Soundsystem - Coachella 311 - Voodoo Music Festival Red Hot Chili Peppers/ Snoop Dogg - New Orleans Arena
Satriani, Vai, Petruci...G3 tour....damn it that was a good show to. Are you a big trivium fan, I just saw them with Slipknot and was less than impressed but I'm not really that into them either.
trivium was great when I seen them... might have just been a off night for them when they come to atl the last time... i have seen many bands a couple times a peice, and some shows were awesome, some were just alright... I' a big fan of satriani... I try to learn his music, but he is way ahead of me....lol...
Great thread response. I actually keep a word document with all of the concerts I go to just because I know that I'd forget some otherwise (I still think I've forgotten to add some). I'm definitely wishing I was able to make it to some of the shows you all have been to. I think my biggest regret was passing on a ticket to see Foo Fighters at the Tabernacle. I've seen 311 a couple of times, both of which great shows. I just would like to see them somewhere else than Lakewood/Hi-fi. Tabernacle would be sick.
Radiohead @ Hifi Buys Smashing Pumpkins @ The Orange Peel TreePhort @ Swayze's HORSE the Band @ Masquerade (probably just because we were the opening act, though) Jimmy Eat World @ Tabernacle
311 @ the Tabernacle for brewhaha (Halloween '99) 311@ The Fox Lollapalooza 94 at Lakewood Crazy Train at Tabernacle....as jacked up as that sounds...lol any/all of my buddy's band (Family Force 5)
Funny Music Midtown was mentioned because my best shows were there 2 years in a row... 2002 I think with Blues Traveler, The Cult and a few other bands and 2003, Kid Rock(not my favorite but put on a great show). That format was great in the beginning, there was allways a band you were interested in playing at any time of day, all 3 days. Other than that: Blues traveller - Variety playhouse(free concert) Clutch - Tabernacle The Misfits - St. Andrews in Detroit
Deke...we listen to the same music, we should get together for some shows! I have to disagree...the DMB show at Piedmont Park was a huge party, the the show itself sucked. Just watched it again on HD.
That was a good show, I like smaller venues like that.. They're allways awesome... I just wish I could have seen them after their 1st few albums.. I've seen them 2x in the last couple years and they allways play mostly new stuff. Which.. is still good.. But I wanna hear Spacegrass and the House that Peterbuilt etc...
Haha, yeah, it may have been other factors that played a part in me having such a good time there. It was, however, the only DMB concert I've ever been to (even though they've been one of my favorite bands since high school). So, it gets some credit for that
way too many favorites.. CKY- Masquerade 2x's SOAD- gwinnett Arena Rancid- Masquerade Brand New- Tabernacle skipnlot- Lakewood (slipknot... won free tickets; wasn't a fan until i saw them live, fucking sweet!) Young Jeezy & Eminem- Lakewood 311 & the Wailers- Lakewood and the best of the best. Lollapalooza 2007 Chi town: RHCP, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Common, Death Cab, Broken Social Scene.. Oh and what about 99xs' free Cake concert!?
Pink Floyd 2X - Ga Tech Smashing Pumpkins - God knows how many times Jane's Addiction and basically all the lollapalooza's I have been to..There have been so many. Any of the shows at On the Bricks or Downtown Rocks when I was backstage watching the show. I cannot explain to you what it feels like to hear the crowd roaring at you when you are on stage. The last would be a toss up between Slipknot, Stone Sour, and the last Sevendust show. I use to work for the promoting company that did the On The Bricks shows and still have many contacts in the local music industry. I have been very lucky to see some great shows on stage or back stage.
