Thanks guys for all the help! We FAR exceeded my expectations! In fact, I believe my expectations were exceeded before noon. As usual Mike pEd led the charge and everyone really seemed to fall right into the perfect role. I am not entirely sure what the progress was on the rear of the car but we can pontificate about it here. Looks like the main trunk of the rear harness is planted as well as the front. After a bit of cleanup and prepping for work I crashed out about 8 and slept like a rock. I really do appreciate the hard work you guys put forth and especially those who are "invested" deeply in time. As soon as she is track ready we are going... "MY TREAT" Everyone gets to drive.
my efforts were minimal, but I did what I can. glad to be of 'service' and looking forward to helping more!
Sorry I showed up too late to get my hands dirty. I'll try to go to bed at a decent hour the night before next time.
Hey Matt working the computer resources to answer key questions is always helpful. No problem guys there will be many more, especially given the progress made. I am in the process of ordering all the bushings some are going to take a week or two and since there is nothing happening on this for that time frame hopefully we can resume on march 22nd. Good news though the only bushings that will need a press will be lower trailing arms and front control arm where it ties into the crossmember. All the others are basically hardened caps that fit over the outrigger's and the rear diff may need to be pressed out but the new ones are 2 piece and will pull together.
Fear of driving on semi slicks was not what kept me from coming back up Sunday, it was the fools convinced that they could haul ass on semi slick non matching tires. I'll make it up for the next though.
BUMP We are on for Sunday 3-29-09! I am still waiting on the bushings but I am certain we can find shit to work on. So I picked up an APS FMIC for the bugeye...Do you think we can get that installed in a day? Not sure I want to chance not having a car to get to work in on Monday but what do you guys think?
Good shit tech. If you need any help from someone that doesn't know shit about subarus lmk. I would come to your previous GTG, but i would not be any help.
Well I guess I'll be there. Even though Techlord isn't really to happy with me right now. I thought he was serious about powder coating his rims Bass Boat Pink metal flake with prismatic sparkles.
Count me in again. As Mike said, we can definitely get the FMIC installed on the bugeye. I volunteer to do any front lip cutting to fit the FMIC.
No, dremel will be awful for cutting the front lip. No power tools. Dremel, even at the slowest speed settings still spins to fast and melts the polyurethane. What I will need is pEd's soldering iron torch thing, with the knife like attachment. It should slice through the polyurethane like a hot knife through butter. If that doesn't work, just a sharp knife will. I can do that too. I promise not to use an entire roll on your uppipe.
a dremel will work, but it'll come out much nicer with a hot-knife. Hopefully I can make it over to watch. If so, then I'll bring some stuff.
Thanks Drew. I guess the first thing we have to do is determine that everything is there for the FM. Can someone bring the huge socket for the axle nut? oh and an electric dremel or whatever to do TGV deletes...my compressor is loud.
You want me to bring up some AL drops for brackets? WE can bend some up with that press I sold you, the red part is a brake and a perfect op to use it. What size socket is the axle nut? Anything else that we may need?
