Can anyone help me w/ an AC problem? Mine has stopped working.

It was working fine, then one day I turned it on and didn't feel or hear the compressor kick in. After that, nothing but ambient temperature air coming out of the vents. Tried turning it off and on, playing w/ the switch, etc., nothing. The compressor just doesn't kick in.

Is there a solinoid or something that I can check or replace? I am hoping that this is not a compressor issue.

probably just needs to be charged as 420 says, it wont kick on if low.

I have just fixed mine for the same symptoms. Dealer said I had a leak in the high pressure hose. Bought a used one here and had recharged at a shop near my house. Try the recharge and if it leaks out, may want to take it somewhere to find the leak / diagnose.

  5. Like Davidwrx said above me you more than likely have a leak somewhere in your system. Before you pay to have it recharged, you should have a technician look for a leak that way you dont recharge it and have to do it all over again once it seeps out again.

Autozone has a leak finder kit for like $20. The dealership charges like $90 to have checked out.

Thanks. I would not have thought that a low charge would result in the compressor not kicking in. There was a time when you checked for a low charge by running the compressor and looking for bubbles in the view glass.

There is a low pressure switch under the washer fluid tank that stops the compresser when it is low. Helps protect the system.
