Who here has switched over to AT&T U-verse television / data services and how do you like it? After experiencing ongoing reliability and service issues with Comcast I switched over to AT&T U-verse. I've had it for about 2 weeks now and at this point I'm really impressed with both the stability of the television and data services. AT&T did have to come out one time to test and fix my line at the street two days after the install, but after that my experience has been rock solid. I had horrible quality of service and support from Comcast that forced the switch, and I live on a heavily wooded property so satellite wasn't an option for tv service here. I had to do something after 8+ truck rolls to get rid of the frequent tiling and signal drops from Comcast didn't fix the issues. I'm fine with two parallel HD streams at the moment, and my line distance is under the 2200ft limit for the upgrade to 3 parallel HD streams in the future. The whole house DVR option is nice, but it needs additional functionality like being able to set series priority and more options for retention of recorded programming.
For those wanting U-verse don't wait for a pamphlet or email. regularly check the online availability tracker. One of the AT&T guys stated that they are slow to notify. This may be intentional to avoid overcommiting the install techs. However there were signs in the neighborhood stating that AT&T was upgrading or testing lines in the neighborhood about a month before U-verse became available. From the time I noticed the VRAD box dropped just outside my neighborhood until the time I could subscribe online was about 2 months.
I had one about 6 months ago. No luck online yet. I ended up going with charter for 2 years ( 144.97 for HD DVR all the prem channels included) Phone, and Internet.
Me too. I check every few months. I will go with Verizon Fios or U-Verse, whichever gets to my neck of the woods first...
If I wouldn't get 50% off my U-Verse Bill I would look into Verizon Fios. But with that offer I can't even consider anything else.
I have had U-verse for about 5 months now. for the first month I would have an audio glich that irritated the fool out of me. After a few calls the problem was solved...but now with some commercials the audio seems to be much louder. Other than the above I am very Impressed with the HD! The Internet is PERFECT and super FAST! Cant wait for voice over IP...
You want a TV or receiver that has the new . It levels the audio, like loud commercials. Also, Isn't Verizon (old MCI) Fios only in the North East? Bellsouth/ AT&T has the southeast. Everything I've read says they don't plan to come down here.
http://www.fiberexperts.com/fios-availability.html Where is Fios Available? FiOS Deployment Verizon FiOS is currently available in 16 different states and is continuously expanding. Verizon plans to deploy their fiber optic internet service to over 4 million homes in various states by mid-2006 and nearly 20 million homes by the end of 2010. Even though this is a rough estimated timeframe it will take Verizon to fully deploy this fiber optic internet service, they are adamant on the success of this tedious mission. Verizon hopes to expand the FiOS internet service to all 28 states where verizon currently provides landline telephone services. The 16 states which the FiOS internet service now occupies are California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Many more states may have FiOS internet services available as time progresses. Florida as well. That used to be a Sprint state. Bellsouth/ AT&T has the right of way and is holding up Fios in GA.
was one week from getting FIOS in virginia beach. back on shitty comcast here. I hate the company with a passion. bill increases EVERY. SINGLE. MONTH. I hope they DIAF still can't understand why I can't get uverse. I live in a pretty nice neighborhood in kennesaw
They have U-Verse at the entrance to my neighborhood, but they haven't turned the signal up enough to reach my house. Been that way now for close to 6 months.
