i cant get the "C" subframes off, i have an 07 wrx is there anything different from the other wrx's? thanks in advance
There is only one subframe that you need to remove to install the FSB, that's THE big U-shaped subfarme. Got a picture of that you are talking about?
lol, yeah and there are like 10 bolts holding that sucker in. IIRC you have to take all the bolts out and actually slide it forward to get it all the way out. but also, IIRC you don't have to take it completely off to put a FSB in. you can just unbolt all but the back two bolts (just loosen them) and tilt it down (from the front, read:front part towards the ground, back still loosely bolted in) then finagle the old FSB out and the same with the new. it is definitely a lot more involved than a RSB job, but not overly difficult. make sure very carefully that all your subframe bolts are lined up correctly before you put them back in, its VERY EASY to strip them.
What I do is take off all the big bolts that go down the frame leaving the 2 bolts in the very front(think they are 12mm). Thus when you pull on the subframe it will fall on the floor but still be attached to the car by the front. It sounds bad, but it doesn't appear to do any damage to mine at least, and when I do this it's not actually bending very far. Those two front bolts aren't really for support anyway, more to just line it up and keep the frame in place.
