Hey all, new member here with a 2005 Legacy GT, currently running stage 2 with the following mods.. K&N Drop-in filter Perrin TMIC GrimmSpeed UP Invidia DP Perrin Mid/Y pipe Prodrive mufflers I also have RaceComp Engineering Tarmac1 coilovers on the car. Visually the car is stock. Some pics from the dealer before I picked her up back in August. So I currently live in Philadelphia, but I will be moving back in with my parents at the end of the month. They are over in Powder Springs. I am a victim of the economy and lost my job in February. Since my lease is up here in Phila, Ive decided to move back and save some money.
07 lgt here. Nice ride and welcome to the site! My journal is on here somewhere! Hope to see your car in person sometime! Justin
Funny, my name is Justin as well So, I just ordered new KartBoy exhaust hangers to hopefully fix my exhaust alignment issues. Next Ill be getting a Group N trans mount and hopefully at least a rear swaybar.
Upgrades sound good here is a link to my journal, I also did slotted dba rotors, stainless steel lines and hawk hps pads just don't have any updated pics. http://www.wrxatl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21105
Hello from another lgt owner. I have a wagon though We should all get together after you move back into town. Nice to meet you. Eddie
Just made an appointment up here in Philly to get the car tuned next weekend. Hopefully I can crack the 300wtq barrier.
So I finally had the opportunity to get my car properly tuned. Almost put down the numbers I was hoping for, but a hot day and a "low reading" dyno cut that a bit short. Was hoping for 270hp/320tq, maybe on a different dyno. Mods: -K&N drop in filter -Upgraded TMIC -Turboback exhaust -Catless UP Dyno Chart And a video of the final pull http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_w7DA0crVo
Nice numbers for a stage II car! When are you moving down here? I want to check out your ProDrive cans. Also, I would love to drive your car with the RCE setup on there....I will let you drive mine if you let me drive yours
Its unfortunate that other tuners cant tweak other tuners maps. I want to add a GrimmSpeed BCS and I know it wont effect things too much. But, moving from PA to ATL means my tuner up here wont really be able to do much.
Well wait a minute...did you do an Opensource tune or do have a Cobb AP? I thought there was no way to lock down an opensource tune?
I have a 2005 LGT wagon 5 speed Ltd in Regal Blue. VF40/18G Perrin TMIC Labonte Meth Inj Labonte failsafe AVO fuel pump Cobb catted downpipe Variant/Mad Dad headers and up Xo2 mid and y pipe Koni adjustables LCA caster bushings Cobb sways Kartboy endlinks Cusco frame braces Cobb shifter STI pitch stop mount Hawk HPS F&R Extra-S Tranny fluid AVO panel filter Perrin lightweight crank pulley 18" OZ Superleggera with Yokohama AVS Sport Take Eddie/Integroid up on the offer to swap drives for a few minutes. He is running a rotated setup. One of these days I will get a ride in it <cough, cough I live in Tucker!> P.S. Those are VERY good #'s for a Stage 2 setup. I am only 289WHP/319TQ with quite a few more mods than you(conservative tune). But is could be the dyno you ran on, too.
Mark, as soon as I get it retuned for the new injectors, I will be more than happy to give you a ride
Its an AP tune. From my understanding, only the tuner who wrote the map can access it with his copy of Access Tuner. I guess its like having a license for a certain software program.
About your dyno... I noticed your dyno plot is uncorrected... Any chance that dyno run was done in relatively cold air- i.e. 45 degrees or something? That would explain the #'s.
Yeah, tuner's can lock down their maps where you need a password to modify it. I think that is BS since you are paying for it therefor it should be your property and not the tuner's.
Yep, so I got tuned here in PA, but if I want to go to Top Speed to get something adjusted, like after installing an aftermarket BCS, I would have to pay full price. Would be real nice if they could just access the map for the 30 mins it would take.
Here's my situation. Im not totally happy with the MBC. Id like to get the Grimmspeed BCS and dump the MBC. Problem is, Im "leaving" my tuner. So, obviously, I cant have Topspeed edit my AP map. Maybe if I ask for an Opensource map, Topspeed would do the necessary adjustment to the various boost control tables that are needed to properly control the GS EBCS. Hopefully...
So who thinks my car will be covered under warranty if necessary? Went up to SOK today to talk to them and schedule an appointment to have my trans looked at it since I noticed some gear whine/noise. Well they saw that my car was modified and immediately started talking about how SOA may not cover it, etc.. Since I have no transmission related mods, you would think I shouldnt run into any problems, right?
Well, my car is there now. Left it at 745 this morning and havent heard a peep from them. Hopefully all is well. Hopefully the rest of the dealer is as nice and helpful as Lydia.
well you are putting down WAY more tq than stock, I am not too familiar with LGT trannys but if they are like the wrx 5mt that tq level is plenty enough to hurt it. I would venture to guess they will not cover it, be glad it is not the gearset as that is way more to fix than the ring and pinion.
Well that was a giant bunch of fail. "Its either gears or a bearing" says the tech. Obviously, what else could it be?
well I have broken a gear and just skipped it, BUT if you were to put it in that gear you would know for sure. I have also had a bearing failure, in my case, the car was not driveable. The few whine's I have heard were front diff...What did the Kinger say?
The tech said the noise was coming from the center section of the trans. Im not exactly sure what that could eliminate. What can King help me with? Will he be able to convince SOA to warranty it?
well he works at SOK, I was wondering if he had an opinion. Being a dealer their hands are tied, you would have to fight for it as would I. When I blew my tranny I didn't get magazine's in the mail showing the ability to race these cars very effectively, or the TV ads depicting a pro driver drift the shit out of a stock wrx (prolly not stock but that is what they sell on the lot). If they said I abused it I would say I saw it on SOA's ad and that is what lured me into buying the car. None of that was around when I blew mine so I just accepted it and built it stronger.
Well, I sent a PM to Kingwrex. Hopefully he will have some input. Got the car a year to the day, and this is the 1st problem Ive come across.
So the few LGTs that are actually around should get together sometime. Or at least make a showing at the next meet or whatever.
Welcome aboard, I wouldnt drive eddies car it will just leave you wanting more, hes over 400 in the tq and hp dept
Hey welcome to the forum! I'm a serial lurker on here but saw your post and had to reply. My 92 Legacy SS is at SOK right now getting a good once over from the KING after sitting in my drive for about a year. I feel your pain. Hope you got everything ironed out. I used to live in Philly as well. I rented a space at Parktown Place off of benfranklyn right by the museum.
