Hey all I have an issue, and i believe it may be the wastegate acuator Okay here are my specs EJ20R motor 760cc injectors 20g TD06 FMIC Megasquirt ECU FORD EDIS Ignition Heres the problem.. everything was fine, brand new turbo, brand new FMIC, brand new injectors. btw... it was boosting and all of a sudden, i started driving and there was 0 boost! I proceeded with checking all my piping and thought my SSQV was leaking, so i replaced that one, with a sheepdog BOV and still 0 boost Then, i went and made sure my turbo was spinning freely and it is, started the car took the intake off (no maf sensor) and the turbo was still sucking air fully hit the throttle and the BOV piston was moving still I dont know what it may be, there is NO intercooler leaks, and everything else is brand new HELP.. ill PAY someone to come to Acworth and fix this 678-357-7239 wazzy
run it by topspeed in the morning. if the piston is moving on the BOV and you don't have boost, either the BOV sucks major ass and has the loosest spring ever or you are making boost still. does it feel like you lost power, or is the gauge just saying you have no boost?? check the lines to the boost gauge, possibly just fell off. but back on the BOV matter, if you take the BOV in your hands and push down on the piston with your thumbs, it should be nearly impossible to open it up. if it is effortless to push the piston in then it is CRAP
What downpipe do you have? Sometimes the wastegate will get hung on some of the divorced ones that have a seperator between the wastegate and turbine outlet.
i have a apexi ni-full 3'' turbo back with a real downpipe... the BOV's.. i have 2 of them, the SSQV worked perfectly when i had the stock turbo 2 weeks ago, and it was working perfect.. all of a sudden, my engine feels N/A.. the boost gauge stays at 0 or under 0 even at 6K... the SSQV still made a small sound.. but the sheep-dog bov doesnt do anything but piston moves..... now the car doesnt feel like a turbo at all... i feel like im driving my 2.5 NA motor right now
gauruntee you those BOVs are leaking. seriously, pull them out and try to push the pistons down outside of the car in your hands with your thumbs. should be HARD to do i could be wrong tho.
Thank you all! i got it.. but it wasnt the BOV alone... the SSQV, had a leak and the wastegate was stuck.. so in combination, it was fuc*in everything up!
it should be impossible to do. I tried with my BOV and couldn't budge it... Glad you figured it out...my guess would've been on par w/ liquidforce's and your ultimate issue - sounds like a wastegate issue
