I was at Road Atlanta riding along with someone today and going up the hill from 10b the power just died. We pulled off and checked for codes and to see if there was a blown off ic hose. All looked good and the car idled and ran well so we just reset the ecu and headed back out. Got back on the track and there was still no power. We gave up on the session and proceeded to pull things apart. Turns out the chra on the turbo had seized up. Anybody know a good place to get this fixed or is it just going to be cheaper to get a new one?
Talk to Jerry at Boost Planet to see if it's cost effective to have it rebuilt, or whatnot. I know he sells rebuild kits, but I dunno if he has one for that turbo. www.boostplanet.com but, I know you know that
Uh-oh indeed. It was unbelieveable what a person with skills can do with a car with that much power and handling. It was even more amazing when we were running down people in the turns in NA mode. It did suck though having Miata's pull away from us on the back stretch.:wtc:
Call Garrett if its a Garrett Turbo. I just had a 35R rebuilt for a customer that had taken a chnk of piston to the wheel and bent the blades. Its $350 for a new shaft, wheel, machine the housing. Beats paying $1325 for a new turbo
Wait, did you get brakes and tires for that beast yet? How in the world are you able to take that thing to RA otherwise...???
Some parts of the CHRA can be rebuilt but there are only 2 or 3 turbo houses that can do it...Jerry at Boost Planet can't. Matt
HAHA. I was searching for some turbo rebuild info and ran across this old thread. I wanted to see what www.boostplanet.com offered. Check out their website!!
