So this is a feature I have always wanted and never been able to find. After stumbling through 20+ pages of crud on the legacy forum (google brought me there :bowdown, I came across this company: AutoWindow.com. Their modules start at $45.00 and are pretty well packed full-o-features including automatic window venting based on temperature, rain sensing to close any open windows during rain, night sensing to close any windows at night and headlight illumination (15s, 30s or 45s) when the vehicle is locked for safety/convenience at night/ Basic Function Overview - (3 unlocks) OPEN Unlocks all doors, opens all windows (sunroof stays still), and disarms the car alarm. - (unlock lock) CLOSE* Locks all doors, closes all windows and sunroof (if equipped), and arms the car alarm. - (unlock unlock lock) VENT* Available on Cool+ and Classic models only. Locks all doors, closes sunroof (if equipped), opens windows a crack, and arms the car alarm. After talking about this with 2pt5 I am definitely going to order one for the Subaru. Even though Summer is coming to an end officially it will be toasty inside the car for a couple more months. I want to be able to roll my windows down with a click of a button I have shot the company an email with regards to a group buy. I will update my post when I hear back from them. Installation seems fairly painless, the unit is designed with LEDs to confirm that the wiring is correct (nifty!). In addition to their unit, you will also need at least one DEI 530T. 1 unit controls two windows. You will want two units if you would like your rear windows to work with their system. Thoughts?
This is the one feature (except the convertible...) that I am missing from the Miata. The Speed 3 is a great car, but this would be a nice addition...
One of my dads friends has a system like this installed on his show truck. I'm not sure if its the same system but it has the same functions id be interested in a GB
And this can be integrated into the Factory Alarm system or Factory Keyless Entry. I know it is possible with an aftermarket alarm, but never heard of being able to do it with a factory alarm system.
Q: Tell me more about the Universal Fit models of Classic and Cool+ A: For years we've been asked, "Does AutoWindow work in my <brand> car?" The problem of many vehicles is they don't permit electric window operation while the car is off. Our friends at DEI have made a module to provide one-touch up/down on cars with power windows and it fits almost any car imaginable! The module is called DEI530T. As a plus it supplies all the necessary electronics needed by AutoWindow to work while the car is turned off! AutoWindow Universal Fit models drive the DEI530T module/s installed in your car (sold separately). One or two DEI530T module/s are required along with AutoWindow Universal Fit module. One DEI module operates two windows (coupe), two DEI modules operate four power windows (sedan). Universal Fit enjoys all the same features and benefits of AutoWindow Classic, or Cool+ and can have Nite Sense and Rain Sense options added just the same!

so does toyota, lexus, VW (since 92 on certain cars), Mazda, etc....however, most of those you have to stick the key into the door to operate those.
With nissan and infiniti all you have to do is hold down the unlock and you can open the window as much as you would like.
you sure? my mom has a 99 beetle, fully loaded w/ every option and it only does it with the key. It also only closes the sun roof, it won't open it.
yes 100% and she didnt have every option. she had auto, cloth, cd player w/changer in the trunk thats about it. i know, cuz i drove it for ~6 months you hold down the lock button and it closes the windows and sunroof. if you hold down the unlock it will roll down the windows but not open the sunroof.
This is a feature I never understood. As far as I can tell you use it to impress people about to get in your car, and nothing else.
just called and asked...she's going to check after lunch. She has a manual, not sure if that matters or not, though... if she has it, i'm stealing it out of her car and figuring out a way to make it work w/ mine
Well I like the idea of being able to roll down my windows before I get into the car so it is not as warm inside of it The venting function of their product is a nice touch and will adjust your windows based on the temperature inside the vehicle without it being on (1-3" for the windows).
If you can get a group buy going on this let me know. Sounds interesting. Not sure if I would want to go this route, or an Aftermarket Alarm with all the Window Modules plus Remote Ignition. That is the one I really want. Being able to roll the Windows up or down would just be an added bonus. Also, do you know, does this work with just a factory alarm, or does it also work with just keyless entry?
Hey we had a heat-wave last month! 103 in an apt with no A/C blows! ...But more or less you are right. When I did live in Atlanta I always had the Windshield visor handy on hot days and left the windows cracked. Let me rephrase: that I understand the purpose of the feature, but I would not be willing to spend a penny on it.
i dont know what model beetle had which and what exact model my mom had. just remember using that feature all the time and i know hers was a 99. cuz it was the first lime green one purchased in savannah.
My 07 MX5 did this, it was useful for venting the heat before you got it. Just hold down the unlock button and the windows would roll down...wife's Mazda7 does it as well...
The DEI module is the trick. If I remember correctly DEI is the company that owns most of the major aftermarket alarm brands including Viper, Clifford, sidewinder and others. I had a DEI alarm installed in a civic about 7 years ago and I was able to choose between basic alarm with keyless to remote start or rolling the windows up or down. If you want more than just the window mod look for a DEI dealer/installer. Back on topic I would be interested in a group buy. http://www.directed.com/
Yeah. I had a fancy DEI alarm back in the day that had a little keypad on it on my ISACA car. Opened and closed windows, opened and closed amp racks in the trunk. Turned on and off stereo. If it was electric, it would control it.
