    I no longer have one.....
I was slowing down and sliding into second at maybe 25 MPH and it went. Damn glassbox. Thanks to Matt and Breel for coming by to check it out.
Anyone know where I can get one of those magnetic plugs to catch the bits with and how much they are? I've got a feeling going from 1st to 3rd is going to get old real quick

he's not going to drop that kind of money now until he gets a more stable income. 6-speed's most likely in the future, but right now we're looking for a bandaid to hold us over for the time being.

fill and flush, fill and flush...get the shit out. We just want to try and get it all out w/out having to crack the case

There is no way to guess exactly what is going on with your tranny without cracking the case. It will probably eat itself in short while. If you crack it open now you might be able to swap another gear in and save it but most likely something else got eaten when two went. If this is your DD and you don't have deep pockets your only other economical choice would be to get a used 5sp IF you can find a good one, locally or maybe somewhere like NASIOC etc. If you can't afford at least a used 5sp any time soon I would dump the car, if you are in a situation to do that (no loan on it).

You can give Brandon at AllPro a call, he can get new and used parts like 5speeds and has a good parts inventory. He also installs them and is reasonable.

the stock drain plug has a magnet, you can get the big daddy of rare earth magnets on ebay. Just knock the boost down, throw some straight 30W in that diesel, flush out the trans and baby it and she'll last a couple of months.

Fixed part of that post for you,

My car is entirely to nice to sell for what I'd get for it. Hopefully I get a new job soon and a six speed / huge turbo are in my near future.

I think after I first started noticing the noise I was able to drive on it for 2 weeks (skipping over second gear) before it affected the other gears. I didn't drain it though so getting all the pieces out can help out tremendously.

Yeah correct me if I'm wrong but Jason drove on his first busted tranny for a good few months with no 1st gear (thoroughly flushed of course) before second gear went too. That was with somewhere in the neighborhood of 370tq too.

So it's absolutely doable. Just gotta be careful with it.

Flushed it twice today and got a bunch of pieces out. The second flush was pretty much clean and I ran the car for a couple minutes to stir stuff up in between the two. I'll drive in skipping 2nd for a bit and flush again. Lucky for me I don't have to put hardly any miles on it right now

6-spd would be nice but maybe a fresh short block before the turbo would be money better spent. Thing sounds like a small diesel

all built cars w/ internals and injectors tick / knock...

dude - he's driving a crawford shortblock, built (cp internals), with original (yup, the rare ones) BC 280 heads - I think his block is safe. It also only has 30k miles on it, and it's an 03. He's driving a detuned 18g setup that's recorded 430whp in the past at only 300whp.

Even if his rings are bad, the shortblock should be good for another 30k. The weakest point in all of these POS bugeyes is the shitbox.

Besides, funemployment can only pay for so much...
