Just about every other time I go to third gear, as soon as the clutch fully engages There is a knock sound. Just a single "knock" then every thing is fine. It only happens in 3rd.

Any ideas as to what it is?

I just put on an Invidia TBE and have heard something about longer hangars to avoid the drive-shaft from hitting something or other. Maybe thats the sound? I never noticed it till I put the TBE on...

yeah could just be the way in which the tranny engages into third which causes it to torque a certain way and slap against your new PHAT dp. did it have (and did you attach) the bracket that comes off the DP to the tranny mount? if not see about that, longer hangars may help but you can only angle the DP so much...

then again it could be that the new DP is angling the rest of the exhaust differently and its hitting the rear diff, as that is common and longer hangers should solve that.

The DP did come with the mounting bracket attached and I did attach it, but I will double check and see if it is close anywhere else.

I just drove to campus and it only did it once both ways? I'm going to do some investigating tonight.

Yea its exhaust i had that problem when i put mine on. Attach the bracket that connects dp to tranny. I also put longer hangers in my middle section and regulars in the rear. Stiffer hangers altogether might do the trick. Long ones look retarded imo, i had them on for awhile all around.

Was it just a single knock in third sometimes for you?
