    How bout them dogs?

On a side note, for any of you betting people (I use Bodog), I put $20 on Oklahoma St (-5.5) over Georgia and $10 on USC (-33) over San Jose and $20 on the USC / San Jose over / under (41, over).

Show me the money - and TO HELL WITH GEORGIA.

If you're not drinking bourbon right now (or as of an hour ago), you're not man...

My school is playing football for the first time in 69 years. Unfortunatley it won't be televised but at least we have a team again.

I don't like people that claim UGA as their 'team' simply because they live in georgia. fucking gay

you can only claim a team as "OMG MY TEAM" if you went to school there

you know if only students cheered for the college they attended then colleges would have NO FANS. im amazed this logic escapes all of our GT students...

no, i didnt go to UGA. but under your logic you cant cheer for anyone other than YOUR school. well Kennesaw state doesnt have a team and i DO cheer for Georgia Southern ( was at the game yesterday). so i would also say that betting on a school you didnt attend would be "cheering for them" so you are now being hypocritical.

and those of you who are my friends on facebook, check it.

qouted for posterity: "I said before today (saturday) that this is a rebuilding year for Georgia and I would personally be happy with an 8 win season."

and you can also quote this: Georgia will still beat GT this year!

Jake, the issue isn't cheering for a team you're unaffiliated with, it's all the asshole rednecks that are die hard deuchebags with no solid base to stand on. As most anybody on here will tell you, UGA students aren't the asshats, it's the people who get stupid drunk and start shit over UGA when they didn't even graduate high school. Athens is a great place to hang out, and I've never had any problem being a Tech fan there. The same can be said about UGA students in Atlanta.

It comes down to class and respect, and unfortunately, most Georgia fans don't have it.

Yeah, especially the "University of the Atlanta Falcons"

It's the same thing. If you like a team, for whatever reason, it's your team. ;)

umm sure. lol i dn about that. all the atlanta area kids that cant get into UGA or GT go there. i just never finished my application. but i did actually get accepted as a transfer student, and just decided to move back into my place in kennesaw and go to KSU (fall '06). so i guess i have a little more connection than a lot of fans.

i understand the 'hatred' btwn UGA and FL and i guess it kinda makes sense btwn UGA and GT, but for the life of me I just cant figure out why GSU (georgia southern) fans hate UGA so much? in my experience UGA fans are more tolerant of GT, GSU and FL fans than they are of UGA fans.
I mean these schools HATE UGA. FL plays them every year and is in the same conference, so that MATTERS. GT plays them every year but arent in the same conference, so it doesnt MATTER AS MUCH. and GSU only plays UGA once every 4 years and arent even in the same division, so this makes NO SENSE. I am a GSU and UGA fan through and through, and I pull for GT in every game EXCEPT the UGA game.

i mean we are all in the same state, can't we all just get along?

    no

we can lose every game of the year, but as long as UGA goes down at Thanksgiving, I consider it a winning season

Haha, I'm actually a GT fan that does not agree with this. Honestly, I'm much more concerned with winning the ACC and a BCS bowl (aka national respect). Don't get me wrong, it is sweet being the state champion, but Tech is better than just focusing on one game a year.

oh - and bets for this week include:

Navy (-7) over Louisiana Tech ($10)
Iowa (-6.5) over Iowa State ($10)
USC (-7) over Ohio State ($75)

    three team parlay ($5 --> $30)

Does anybody else bet on college football? I'd like to make a dedicated thread to discuss possible bets if anybody else is interested. Jeb and I bet every week, and do a lot of 'discussing' over possible matches.

You and me both. But a win is a win, and props to Clemson for not giving up on it. They turned it into a game in the second half.

That being said, our coaches were strumming the diddle fiddle for Clemson's staff the first half.

^^ I usually stay away from college football till I can get a feal for the teams... Last week I took Ohio State(-21) and they damn near lost.. and Georgia straight up, and we all know what happened there.. I will be waiting until week 4, and sticking with Pro football for now.

My only two rules of thumb are always bet on USC and never bet SEC. The SEC is so unpredictable from week to week, and they have such great defenses it's hard to bed on any spread.

I really like the Navy and Iowa picks, they seem pretty solid. Georgia *should* beat SC, but who knows...if they show up like they did against OSU, it could be a close one. Plus, GA has a Spurrier complex.

I haven't heard anything on UCLA, but Tn looked pretty good last week, and with a spread that close that SEC defense should prevail.

They DID blow a 24 point lead. They allowed 27 unanswered points. Ridiculous. Paul Johnson is better than that. Also, my high school quarterback is on the coaching staff with him (since he was the quarterback at navy when he was there, Lamar Owens).

You know I'm a uga fan, but like I said I still pull for gt in all there other games. And IMO that is unacceptable. They can't expect to play like they did last night and beat some of these other better acc teams this year and esp an sec team. Granted the option did look good and unstoppable at some points when they ran it. It was only when they tried something else that the offense broke down.

sadly, clemson is one of the better acc teams. They're picked to finish second (behind FSU) in the atlantic division

the FSU v Miami game was good. i think both of those teams looked more "well-rounded" then GT or Clemson. they both had steady offensive/defensive production OR didnt look good one half and like shit the other half (clemson and GT both swapped halves doing this).

RSconvert... my parleys are all in the shitter... people should pay me to give them my picks, then bet the other way. Gonna try my hand at the pro's tommorrow, an area I'm a little more comfortable with.

ok observations (remember I am pulling for Tech): A)Tech relies TOO MUCH on the Option, whenever they try something else the fail miserably (not just this week, last week too (didnt score in the 3rd quarter trying all those passes) against clemson). B) defense looks like crap against the pass, think i heard a stat saying they were ranked 80th in pass defense.

on top of this Miami's defense has gotten wise to the Option and has been able to stop that, so congrats for them.

but this looks to me to be more of a continuation of the second half from last week then just the start of tonight

but you Techies have to agree with me, that or you're not watching the same game i am

    c-note worthy on 3 games 5-1 odds

    BYU (+8) over FL St.
    Tenn (-30) over FL
    IOWA (+4) over Ariz

    add

    Pro(s):
    take NO against PHI
    Ind (+3) over MIA

    Increases 15-1 odds
