Im pretty new to the WRX scene ive only owned mine for about a month now. I went from a Honda Prelude to a wrx so its pretty different. Im still getting use to driving this beast. But anyways, ive been trying to figure out what a good launching rpm is and what to do. Cause im usually revving to at least 4500 rpms and im bringing the clutch up to the release but the car boggs down real bad and then takes off. I had one awesome launch but i dont know what i did. i have an 05 wrx by the way. im not trying to race or nothing im just trying to learn this for my own enjoyment. :naughty:
launching is very bad for WRX's, but... don't drop the clutch... what I did before LC is rev around 3-3500 give it a feathering and swap feet smoothly. also what mods are done to it?
Got this from Nasioc I may just have to give it a try! hold the gas down, bouncing it off the rev limiter for 5 min to build boost while the car is in neutral. forget the clutch at first, just jam it into first gear. if the car doesnt move a whole lot, try using the clutch, but dont forget to pull your e-brake all the way up first. with the engine still redlining, push down the clutch and if your first gear still works, put it in first. drop the clutch as fast as possible. in fact, if you can reach down and pull it up, it works even better. if you hear crunching sounds, its ok. its only your transmission; this is normal for fast starts. also, you may smell something burning, this also is normal. think of it as the smell of speed. once you are moving, remember, you dont really need to clutch for shifts, you can just "speedshift" from gear to gear like real racers do. while you are in gear, you can clutch in, redline, then drop it again for a burst of super speed. then use your NOS. you may now release your e-brake. /BS LOL Seriously though you need to launch at least about 5500 to keep it from bogging. as the clutch pedal comes up push the gas through the floor.
Every car likes to launch differently. Mine loved brake boosting on the old 5 speed. It hates it on the 6 speed. The main thing is you don't want to be getting off the clutch while your rpms are in a falling state. They should be climbing up when you start to get off the clutch. It's all finesse and timing. You want wheel spin.....otherwise it'll bite and bog.
This is a total load. I followed your so called procedure step by step, and my drag times were horrible. Not only that, now my gearbox won't go into the first four gears and my motor makes a really loud knocking sound. At first I was like, "WTF?" but some really knowledgeable guys on Nasioc said it was probably because of the BOV and Mobile 1 oil I am using. I wonder if Subaru will cover it under warranty?
