Who all here can shoot fireballs? Just curious as to what set-up you have to cause a fireball to come out the exhaust. Is it just cause you're running catless? Maybe even a BOV and catless. When time comes around to get an STi I really want to be able to shoot flames.

All that is required to shoot flames out of your exhaust on our cars is a BOV. Between shifts, when the BOV vents to atmosphere, it causes the car to run extremely rich for just a second, causing unburned fuel to make it into the exhaust system. Once the unburned fuel is there, it just needs to reach the right temperature to ignite and you have Afterfire.

With that said, my car shoots fireballs from time to time. It is not an on demand thing, though if you want constant Afterfire, PM Greg here. His car shot flames damn near every shift. However, I don't think his situation was an intentional thing, and I am certain that it was not good for his car.

rich is safer than lean. but yeah. not the safest thing in the world

i have seen BONE STOCK wrx's and sti's shooting miniscule fireballs. if you hold a lighter up to a stock wrx's exhaust it will spit fire. they are rich from the factory.

Greg doesnt get on anymore and he sold his sti long ago. He had atmospheric bov and protune, though he changes bovs often. His car started shooting huge flames almost every time he let off of the gas after he removed his cat.

I can spit them blue on demand. All I have to do is hit the test button on the meth controller while I'm cruising. LOL

as long as the car is catless, has a BOV, runs rich and has a non-resonated muffler...the car has the potential to shoot a fire ball. You will not have any control over if/when.

See that's exactly what I'm talking about. Not any of that fast and the furious flames. Just a little fireball after shifting/downshifting

I had that picture as a desktop for a while lol. Mine blows flames occasionally. I'm running a catless exhaust with a bov and an OTS VF39 map. Like most everyone else said, it only does it when it wants to.
