rwd tranny for sti? do they make one or how do i make one and where can i find it this is for a friend
Didn't you just ask/post this a month or so ago? Maybe it was someone esle. Lol but yeah I assume you could always retrofit any old rwd tranny in there, but the diff exchange would be the easiest/cheapest option.
here it is Jake... http://wrxatlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25833&highlight=rwd you were the first to respond.
Converting a transmission to do this would not be real difficult. It would not be cheap, but it is doable. At that point you really need to worry about the rear diff being able to hold the power though. It was not designed to withstand that kind of torque and stress. Were I to do this I would go with either a T56 or a C4 (depending if you want auto or manual...despite what people think, auto is better for all out drag racing) and convert the rear end over to a solid axle rear end rather than the independent. From there you just need to modify the transmission crossmember, rear suspension and get a driveshaft made Simple if you have the cash!
