As you can see in my signature, Im almost there. But I wana hit 300 without meth or anything higher than 93 pump gas. I dont mind paying for another tune, but what would i need to hit that 300? maybe aftermarket header,EWG....? Im not looking into bigger turbos or anything major, just a bolt on that might help out. :wavey:
Did you do TGV deletes? Turbo inlet hose? Those two are usually good for 5-10hp each. You could also look into an equal length header and a retune.
I see, even scott suggested for a new turbo inlet when i was down for tuning. I might be back for another tune next month for that 300 number.
Also Doug, when retunning my car, does Scott have to do the whole process all over. Or can he just make little changes to the map and be set?
I'm at Forged Performance now, and I can tweak from your old map. If Doug's cool with it, we might continue to share maps, so if you choose to go to TopSpeed I can give him your old map. A high-mileage '02 2.0 liter on an STi TMIC with a VF-43 *MIGHT* make 300whp with those mods, but it will be pushing pretty hard... The "classic 300whp" 2.0 liter setup was a VF-34 (a little bigger than a VF-43) and a FMIC. Siegel
I didn't think TGV deletes added any power, especially 10hp at the levels his motor's already at. Does anybody have dyno charts to back this up? I'd like to see them. I deleted my tumbler gates, but left the partition instead of cleaning it out. I really don't see how that's going to equate to 10hp
Ohh. Well ofcourse I would want you to play with the map instead of someone else. mind me asking, how come you're not with TopSpeed anymore? So If I was to go front mount, I would be assured more power? But I hear more lag?
I would agree about the TGV's - I've never seen conclusive proof of their gains. Each runner at that point is at least 60% of the size of the throttle body and there are 4 of them. TGV deletes can't hurt, but I haven't been convinced of their gain... A properly sized FMIC should be worth at least 10whp over a TMIC, plus you can push it a little harder in the real world because a FMIC will never be at 200F like a TMIC can be. There will of course be some additional lag, but it's really not as big as some people make it out to be. It was better for all of us to part when we did. Siegel
That and or external gate Larger up pipe diameter helps on hp some and combining that with an external gate will help things out. It helps overcome the VE loses from having such a small hot side. Or just throw some meth on there and be done with it!
I would not be doing meth, I've read alot on it and decided its expensive . I might go with EWG, but after seeing how hard it was to swap the UP, I kinda don't want to go through that process again.
$395 is kinda close lol http://www.fredbeansparts.com/servlet/the-974/AEM-Water--fdsh--Alcohol/Detail
That is a bare bones kit. If I had to get another kit I would go with the CoolingMist CMGS kit. I've been impressed with what I've seen.
shoot Liquidforce a PM he was selling his trunk mount kit for that price maybe 25 bucks more. I have enough meth to last me 3 years.
yeah i was supposed to be the kit from him, but than had to spend money on something else. If he still have it in like a month, ill get it.
