GOOD TIMES, Thanks to everyone that came out, it was a decent workout for me, I don't think it was so tough for Eddie. I think we are going to change up the meeting spot to Rocky Mountain Pizza, not 100% yet
How big was the turnout? I killed my legs and knees earlier at the BMX track in peachtree city so I wont be riding for another day or two. And theres nothing fun around Rocky Mountain unless you're going to do some urban hucking around GT's campus or laps around Atlantic Station until the rentacops kick you out. And go pick up some lights, I hate Performance Bike with a passion but you can get some lights there for $3.99, its worth it not to be hassled by APD. Next week I'll bring my stash of flashing Jagermeister lights for those without taillights.
7 people showed up which is more than I thought. Theres some fun stuff to ride around GT campus, plus everything is uphill from there it seems like so the ride back doesn't suck so bad.....I was struggling today. Hopefully Ill have something a little more fun to ride next time. Mikes got me thinking I want a dirt jump bike now too, which I've got enough stuff to build. But I kind of think I want to order another Racer X, I guess Ill call and see if I can get a deal on one tomorrow.
LOL...I had fun even though I was the only one not on a Mtb Bike. Dammit, I have been looking at Full Suspension Free Ride bikes all morning.
I had a great time! It was a little easier than the usual trail riding I normally do, but still great... good times.
Yeah I'm kind of torn, I'm not sure what I want to buy. I may sell my BMX bike and buy a dirt jump bike with that money. Ill tear one of the single speeds apart and build a Cross Country bike. I may sell off most of the Barracuda and use that money to fund a Freeride type bike. I should also buy a road bike since I live on the trail but I don't have 3000 dollars to blow right now and I would have to pull that money out of thin air.
You can build a road/CX bike for under $1k. Might not be what the racer boys ride, but it will serve its purpose. The CX bike I was on last night cost me all of like $700 in parts.
I don't do cheap bikes, I don't know if its the years of working at shops or just my personality but when I build a bike its usually pretty sick. The Barracuda I was riding last night is the cheapest thing I've owned since I started working at shops when I was 14, and its still has King hubs and Ti spokes....lol I may get another Lynskey road frame. but I need to get rid of a lot of parts first
I tend to agree...teh cx bike I was on was built so I wouldn't trash my $3k+ bikes towing the kids around. I might tear my Blue Carbon Mtn Bike down and buy a freeride frame and put all of the parts on it and just sell the Blue Frame.
Riding around GT is fun. For all I care you guys can meet at my driveway  Oh, and I still havent found my other shoe.
I know this is a little OT but if any of you come across a cheap 24" BMX cruiser, lemme know, I'm on the lookout but I dont want to spend too much since it'll only be ridden 3-4 days a month. Preferably something with more trail/park geometry and beefy enough for my fatass not to break.
I've got a pretty sweet cruiser that I wouldn't mind getting rid of, I would have to build a set of wheels for it, which I think I have rims for but can't seem to find.
WOOT, see everyone Tuesday. This ride is always on unless its raining. We were thinking of meeting over by Rocky Mountain Pizza by Tech, I'm going to change the first post to reflect that.
If you get those wheels built for it PM me what price you're looking h for. I couldnt really find any affordable 24" wheels with a quick google search, and like I said I dont want to spend too much money on, essentially, a toy bike.
do you guys consider it to be raining? because i want to ride. Did we meet at 8 last time, i could have sworn it was 9... or maybe i was just late.
I'm all packed and ready, but i'm waiting on the weather to see what's going to happen... I got my new hardtail built up and I want to street ride it BAD. Anyone want to buy a mint condition Transition BottleRocket frame???
so its kinda raining here, and it takes me while to get there... I guess its another rain out.. bummer
Is this on for tonight? I'll check back here in an hour or so to see if I should swap my street tires on, if not the knobbies are staying on for the next time we have a dry day.
For real, cold wet and rainy every day. At least for me its rainy with possibilities of a job in LA :naughty:, anxiously awaiting a positive email.
bump. Any interest in setting this back up? I vote not tuesdays but any other night is great. If we hit it early enough while there's still light the beltline is a lot of fun for dirt/gravel riding in town.
Wirelessly posted i'm definitely interested. i'm not much of a hucker anymore but i'm game for some intown shenanigans. my only bike is a 29er SS.but still up for 10 miles.
You can definitely huck a 29er, though I may not on one I consider my own. Only the sweet Gary Fisher Rumblefishs at the demo day last weekend . . . those big wheels felt solid on a repeated 1.5-2ft drop. Come on out, though I might recommend a gearing change so you're not spinning too hard on the flats.
I bike every other day in the afternoons after work around Piedmont Park if you wanna join you're welcome to.
