the dvd player worked fine..flawlessly until yesterday when the screen was black when it came on..i closed it and opened it back up and it was fine..later on in the day the screen basically quits working at all and the song skip/chapter skip button got where it would only work if the screen was open..today the dvd player basically doesnt do anything except play the cd you put in it,but you cant change tracks or anything..the screen also tries to get stuck after it comes out about a half inch or so and you have to help it finish coming out,or help finish put it back in

Can you reflash the firmware to confirm it isn't a software issue?

it sounds like you have a damaged ribbon cable going to the monitor. this will happen over time with flipouts. you can imagine bending a piece of thin copper repeatedley what happens. this controls all the buttons on the screen and the screen itself.

as far as the monitor not opening on its own again that is typical on an aged flipout.

it can be repaired but you may have trouble finding parts at a decent price. radios are like computers. it doesn't take long for them to get out of date and it can sometime be difficult to get parts. I know a local repair shop I can pm you the number if you like.

IMO I would just replace it. I can get you a good deal on a new one if you decide to go that route.

for right now, you have to change your theme in order to adjust all that. Changing it back to classic, then using the settings icon on the forums main page and you can edit all that.

We (Alex) are (is) working on new themes with all that added in. :)
