Previous best on hard, short ratio 205/45/16 with to much wheel spin. Was just looking for a good mph this night out. 60-1.92 1/4-12.89@108.5 Now my new best with my good condition taller ratio and wider 225/40/18 tires. 60-1.75 1/8-8.1@86mph 1/4-12.74@106.8mph Was hunting for a good et on this night...lost some mph as expected with the taller ratio wheel/tire and a bit worse weather conditions. If i had traction with my shorter ratio tires, id be in the 12.5's...in my pump gas daily driver wagon that hauls my mountain and road bikes around. 2002 WRX wagon stock long block with 80k miles. In the 5500 range, i have a light weight fly wheel so i have to give it some pretty large blips to build enough juice off the line to get her spinning. Clutch release is the typical progressively quicker release style. Ill say for the most part i just feel it out, i dont consiously pay attention to rpm and my clutch release, if i do i always do it wrong lol. I can say that i am VERY impressed with my exedy organic clutch kit, which is supposed to be a stock replacement and rated at 278 crank tq. It has over 40k miles of "enthusiast" use, making well over its designed tq spec, and when i have glazed it over from to slow of clutch release...it comes back to life withing a couple hundred miles(thanks to the organic material). As many know, when you overdo a clutch, you end up finding a weak link somewhere else in the driveline...the trick is to find a clutch that WILL slip a bit between hard shifts and on launches to ensure long trans, dif, and axle life. I absolutely love the way i have my car set-up now, its a very quick all round car that should be reliable for many different forms of performance automotive use as well as DD'ing.
