I just saw this stuff at AutoZone and am curious if anyone knows anything about it. Apparently they guarantee "engine protection for up to 15,000 miles or one year." It also claims to offer eight times more protection than Mobil 1. And according to the website "It's more than just oil. It's liquid engineering." Whatever that means… So, reviews? Thoughts? Pros/cons? It does come in a spiffy gold package at least.
I wouldn't run it for over 3,000 miles no matter what the manufacturer says. Castrol makes some good oil so I wouldn't be surprised if it does well.
Sometimes it's hard to not drink the Kool-Aid, particularly when it comes out of a gold jug. I figured this was the case, though.
That has been their corporate tag line for a while now. I suppose best bet is to buy some, and have an oil analysis done after 3k miles. If you have to drink some kool-aid that is. (we all drink our share of corporate kool-aid from one source or another)
Lol, oil. These kind of threads always turn out good. [/sarcasm] I'm sure it works just fine for your average applications. If you're going to be driving hard, I don't think I would let it go for 15,000 miles. Though I'm willing to put money on the fact that it will easily and safely take you far past 3,000 miles. (waits for "any oil that's not [insert oil brand] is complete garbage, and you'd be retarded to put it in your Subaru")
Do you know that if you measure the ppm (in most cases) That a car that has 2 oil changes in 6k has more ppm added together than a car that has 6k OCI (on the same car)
Has anyone used this stuff with any luck? Over the weekend, a friend of mine that is a regional manager for Advance told me this was a very good oil. He said it was developed in Europe and was suppose to be leagues better than the GC. I went a bought 10 quarts of it since Advance was having a sale on the oil. Just wondering if anyone has done any oil analysis on it.
I have the VOA of the 5w and 10w -30 Its a light oil and not much UOA since its fairly new. I certainly wont put the 5w-30 in turbo cars. (just personally) I too have a stash since its on sale at AA and the $15 rebate expired 12/15/09 and there is a $10 coupon from AA = -$0.01 for a premium synthetic oil is a no brainer purchase. the 5w-30 is closer to a 20 oil than a 30 - will be in the honda in summer
I, for one, was happy to get Ming's info. That's kinda why I started this 10 months ago, anyway. Why open a new thread when one already exists?
give me a few days ill compile all the oil that i have interest and would use in a spreadsheet and host it on my site. I cant post my website otherwise they lock the post
Because I didnt want to start a new thread and wanted to see if Ming or anyone else had anymore info on the oil? Who is the retarded monkey now!
I do not see it as a problem -- please do not try and sell something in the same post Thank you for continued research on oil. I know there are only a few of us locally that are pursuing any sort of oil analysis and research.
Wirelessly posted (From Your Mom's House) AutoZone has 5 quarts of GC w/ a Fram filter on sale for $29.99. Saved $11.90...picked up a K&N recharge kit with the savings.
Yuck on the Fram filter...Advance had 5 quarts and Purolator Pure One filter for $24.99 but the sale ended yesterday.
Sorry, I was thinking Castrol Edge Sale. I stocke dup on it so it better be some good stuff or else it is going into the Wife's mini van!
lots of good indicators it will be a good long oci oil - im betting that it will as well No UOAs yet that says it not shearing Have too many proven options for the EJ engine so ill be using it for the Honda
