Well I do not own a WRX or STi, but I have worked on my buddies and rode in it so I love them. He's name is EJRex on here. He's taught me a LOT about cars since we first met on a car forum haha. Just thought I'd introduce myself. I am currently shopping(check the WTB forum) for a WRX though. Details there. I'm about 15-20 minutes from Carrollton and I'm in Newnan a lot since my boys are down there with their mother. I'm familiar with ATL, D'ville and McDonough(sp?). My little town is called Ranburne, AL. I live about a mile off HWY 100/5. Anyways I am impressed with this forum. Good job to the owner and support staff. Well here's my current ride(not running) that I am parting out and getting rid of. I'm keeping a lot of things from it like audio and some universal turbo parts:
It's hard as heck to find a good price. Harder than I thought. Both that I found are between 9-10k...under 100k mileage though. Hopefully a good offer will come up within the next few weeks.
welcome to the community! :wavey: From reading your other post, I must say, good luck in your search. The 03's are the better year out of the bugeye 'body' and as such, are going for a slightly higher premium. The red in the 03 is different from Chandlers 04, so you can should still consider it. I'm assuming you're looking for something local-ish, and wouldn't want to travel the country to find a car, correct? For $8k, you won't find something that wasn't beat on, or is really high mileage. Don't get me wrong, they are out there, just few and far between. Have you considered a wagon? Another suggestion is to look for an 03, but save a little more money and you should be able to find the right one for the right price.
LOL you know my buddy. Good guy..I go to him for advice when I'm in the market for cars...even though sometimes I wish I went to him on the FIRST one. I'm on car #9 right now in 5 years! This purchase will be car #10. He knows the story why I'm pressed to get a car told him I what I needed, but wanted a Suby. Since I don't want a car loan, and its hard for me to save up cash(two kids separated sums it up). We talked and he said I could get a RS and build up gradually and save for a 2L WRX swap and he said it was cheap & popular. I would really LOVE to have a turboed car again as I love them. But Chandler wouldn't give me advice that'd put me in a tight spot so I may go this route as he knows his cars and doesn't buy cheap crap. And you won't see me posting in anything else but these two threads until I find one and make a purchase...because this is already way to many threads for me on first registering.
in that case http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1904942 and find a totalled STi for about 5k and buy that and make money from selling the parts you can't use to fund the swap. Granted, you'll have to find a different hood for the hoodscoop, but yeah.
WHOA...heck no. Not buying another automatic. I hate those things. Plus this ice lately my manual got me out in my truck. Except the 17 yr old engine over did it. But you did get me searching on that site.
Hey what's up Eric. Good to see you've been paying attention Let me know if I can help you find an RS or wrx.
You already know that answer. I don't even want to know about how big that conversation is in my palm. I'm leaning to the RS that way I can still get the other stuff I want/need. Like materials to build me a 14 x 8 shed beside my shop to store ALL that crap clutering the shop up. You know how cramped it is in there with the stuff. And buying me a cherry picker and some more tools to replace the ruined ones.
I saw that one and the one for $3800. I wouldn't pay $6k for that guys though. Maybe 5200. I'm keeping a eye out. I'm just looking at my funds. Gotta tight budget to get what I want to get. I think I can build my shed for ~$400. Not bad when I'm doing the labor. Just going to be a place to store all my extra parts and all. That way shop has JUST tools. It's like a shop/storage place right now.
WRX's are out there for sale but if you do find one you need to be ready to jump on it. We searched for almost a year for my husband's. Everytime we found one, it would be sold when we called or when we got there. When we finally found my hubby's car online we called ahead to SOG and they still had it but when we got there someone else was test driving it. Thank goodness they walked away from the car to look at an STI so we took it for a test drive and said we wanted it. The people came back from test driving the STI and wanted the WRX we wanted but we already had official dibs. They waited around for hours hoping we would walk away from the deal, but we didn't. They finally gave up about 9:30-10:00 that night. I think a lot of people on here have similar stories.
Well I will keep an eye out. SOG? That sounds familiar. I think its where one of the ones I found are.
FWIW, the 99 models go for more money due to the lack of quantity that were made for the 1999 model year. 00-01's there were nearly twice as many made per year, so they are more plentiful, and as such, cheaper.
I listed my car for sale. It's in the MX6 forum, but because I'm under the 25 post count here and do not feel like going on a post whore spree since that crap is stupid. Here's the link: http://www.mx6.com/forums/fs-cars/235116-fs-1989-mazda-mx6-gt.html#post2284579
Welcome to our community :wavey: And thank you for following our rules. The 25 post count minimum is to ensure that the "Seller" has some sort of established presence and thus instill confidence with the "buyer". Good luck in your search!
