I now have a 4.44:1 rear diff. I took the cover off and was trying to identify what kind I have. I have done some searching and I have had minimum luck finding out what it is. I posted this up on another forum and they said it might be a suretrac. If someone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
yeah, that's a mechanical diff and more than likely a suretrac (came stock in a lot of subarus, just not in USDM WRXs) an easy way to check is to spin one of the hub carriers. if the other spins the same direction, it's a mechanical diff
Fucking A. It is blocked via Fortiguard and I cant get to it on my phone. AND there is no power at the house since yesterday afternoon...
Does not look stock to me. If you can see all sorts of different gears inside, its a helical or torsen. If you see gears and fancy wedges, its a suretrac type. If you see clutch packs/discs, its a mechanical clutch type. It is absolutely *NOT* a Viscous LSD. A keeper for sure tho as long as its not noisy or binding like its a spool.
I checked the number that is on the diff it self. No dice. I checked multiple places. It really doesn't matter, I am just happy that the diff is not a viscous.
Don't know if this helps but it does include tranny codes: http://spda-online.ca/modules/tinycontent/rewrite/tc_28.html
