had an interesting morning..i ran out of gas on my way to work this morning in the luv truck(gas hand doesn't work). I was only about 100yds from work so I started to push it the rest of the way when an opportunistic hobo decides to sprint across traffic and offer to help in exchange for some money.....of course. I told him I didn't carry cash and that I didn't need any help, I mean the truck is light as shit, but he insisted anyway. so here I am in morning traffic pushing my old ass truck with this homeless man on the tailgate.....fun. well, we get the truck in the parking lot and he asks again for some $ and I told him that I don't carry cash. THIS MOTHERFUCKER THREATENS ME saying he knows where I work and he'll be back for some money later..wtf lol
Homeless people are getting more desperate for money just like the rest of us right now. When i was living in bankhead the bums out there would literally walk up to your car and look on the floorboard/cupholder for change if you told them you didnt have any. I had a bum threaten me at work a month ago because I wasnt going to give him any free pizza and he was cold and hungry. Welcome to Atlanta, at least there's some new anti-panhandling laws on the state congress agenda.
had a coworker in a situation like that here at work. he was filling up on the boulevard (I work off fulton industrial...classy place) when a bum came up and grabbed him from behind. This coop's a big boy - 6'2", 200 lbs, built like a linebacker. He didn't even flinch, turned around and crow hopped him. A cop was sitting about 20' away and saw the whole thing happen, asked the coworker if he wanted to press charges and hauled the guy off (he had warrants out or something). Sad thing is, I've already seen this homeless dude countless times meandering around.
I enjoy the elaborate stories they come up with. same lady accosted me while I was pumping gas with a 10 minute story. A+ for effort, still didn't give a shit.
yeah, I don't live anywhere near where they homeless are..i was right around the corner from work..btw this was in union city, hwy138
weird this has been posted, just yesterday as we are leaving my son's Karate class a bum walks up holding a sign which I didn't read but he did pull the fucking cell phone from his head to ask for money. I said sell your phone and left. what nerve Back in the day when I was a high school waste of flesh and thought my escort GT was the shit. A bum up by tech (nat'l champ year IIRC) approaches to wash my windshield I tell him I would not do that and keep the fuck away! He doesn't listen and when he came to the window for money I rolled his arm up and took him down the street. I released him at wot...thinking back on it I could have killed the dude.
IMO, Atlanta has the most aggressive panhandlers in the country. Having said that, they never bother me. I don't let them; you just act a bit angry and loony, it tends to throw them. It helps to twitch occasionally. And randomly yelp.
There are homeless people in the burbs too (Alpharetta) but they usually don't bother anyone. They live up here to avoid the crazy homeless people in Atlanta.
If I feeling froggy.. I'll ask them for money before they can ask me... really throws off their game...
i can't stand homeless. I have been working at the same QT for 3 years now and I have seen the same hobo's for the whole time. All they buy is beer and cigarettes. Most have been banned from our property for excessive pan handling or were caught stealing.
Last time I was in Atlanta, I was so tired that I pulled into a truck stop to catch a little sleep. I was in the Lincoln pickup truck with a ton of parts in the back seat. I hear this knocking on the window and it was a hobo asking for change. I told him I had none as I don't carry cash and laid my head back against the seat. He then knocks on the window again a little harder and spoke loudly that he knew that was a lie....look at what I'm driving. He shut up fast and left when I showed him the .40 that was inside my hoodie I was wearing. I went ahead and left that place.....made me nervous after that.
rarely do i run into these urban outdoorsmen.. when i do i speak in tongues, mumble goobly gook alien languages until they give up trying to communicate with me... many pro-beggars make a few thousand dollars a week.. i remember something once about a mother/daughter team made couple grand a day... and its tax free....
last time i showed a gun to a fellar i had to shoot him, but thats another story... you wanna avoid these situations if possible...
I know what I'm doing.....I was prepared to shoot this mother if he tried to break in. I don't play in situations like that......you don't come beating on my windows like this guy did.
bum stories I was walking out of Philips Arena after a thrashers game one time. I had a dude come up to me and my friends and ask if we would listen to his cd. I said I didnt listen to rap (I do) and kept on walking but he continued to harass my friend. His story went from buy my cd to I dont have money for food even though he had a recorded cd of himself and then he went as far as telling us he had AIDS just to get some change. Sometimes I feel like im in an episode of South Park. Change? Change?
All this bum bashing is sad. If it weren't for bums how would teenagers ever get booze? 1 mad dog for Otis, 2 cases of "the beast" to go...
yeah and curtis lowe was the finest picker to ever play the blues, but if curtis was to touch my truck again I'd break his fucking arms.
You all know that sending the bums out to hassle you suburbanites is a form of sport for us city-folk?
One of our friends had someone like that come up to him trying to sell CD's and out of curiosity he bought one.. the guy's name was Stank Dog... The CD had like an 8 yr old kid on it rapping about killing some bitches and ho's in his kitchen. But our personal fave is: A U G to A T L Check it out: http://mp3shopcart.com/Album/2053843/The_Warzone_Boyz/Stank_Dog/download-mp3/ :ddirty:
