is the fog light button switch a special type of switch?

 

Yes. Its a SUBARU switch. Thus it is special.

 

it's probably made by nissan, though

I meant is it two way, three way, multiple pole, etc.?

I want to get a foglamp switch, scratch off the foglamp symbol, and use the switch as something else in one of my blanks in the dash..

 

It triggers a relay. Its a momentary+something. I cant remember the type. I do know its not just on/off tho...

 

oh... I thought the cruise control button was a relay, but the wrx fog lamp button was an actual switch since it stays pushed in.

I've been wrong before, tho...

 

The cruise is 100% a momentary that energizes a relay as well. Of course, a light stays on as well with it...

 

are these the same switches? i could just buy them and crack em open.
