It looks like my GR is bitching after getting a few splines off on the input shaft when reassembling after the bushing install.

This has disabled ABS, DCCD is in limp-mode and the "traction control" light is lit orange (along with the hill-assist light, but I disabled that a while back, so it stays illuminated all of the time anyhow).

My question is: Has anydone removed their input shaft, or performed any steering work in general that required the removal of the input shaft? If so, did you have this issue and how was it resolve. The damn steering angle sensor is $400, and I'm sure it's good. The shaft didn't rotate while it was off... it's just not in the right spot. I didn't have enough time to line it back up where the steering wheel 0 degress = straight wheel alignment. It will be straightened tomorrow and maybe (maybe not) that will clear the issue. It would be nice to know if anyone has experienced this before though.

Searches come up with the usual. ECU reset, clear codes, replace sensor, etc. I wish I had a Subaru Select Monitor for the GR. It actually lets you calibrate to 0 degress!

I'm trying to stay away from the stealership also if at all possible. I'm sure they would ream me for being catless, plus modded to the point where this is definitely not a warranty job!

    Thanks in advance!

I'm fairly certain putting the steering shaft back where it is supposed to be will fix the problem

    LOL...

The splines were put back in the correct position today and the problem disappeared. It was a simple mistake with the original markings when the shaft was put back on. No biggie. It was interesting to say the least to drive home on pavement with a limp differential. Seems like it would fail open instead of failing closed (locked)!

Such a stupid sensor, but I understand what it does and why, so that is that I guess.

    Thanks everyone!

Both of you are perverts, wanting a friends wife to come over, and the other wanting details

Where's scoobymike? Thought he was the PC queen to clean up posts like this.

Definitely, same here. I want to take a ride in that beast one the build is done. If mighty putty can't do it, then nothing can... except maybe mighty mendit. I have autocad files on how to build, from scratch, the mighty putty drive shaft. Unbreakable except with another source of mighty putty of course!
