DDS is boring as hell. Rofl. But yeah, just like Rex said, he shouldn't have to do any of that. He didn't actually break any laws, other than what may be sound pollution or whatever. But even that is stupid.
I don't have any tickets in Ga so I should be pretty good. The only tickets I ever get are when I go out of state on a road trip. I might have 4 or 5 of those in my whole driving life.
A DDC is always a good thing, most insurance companies will give a discount. As for its application to this situation it could only help. I took one to get out of a speeding ticket and found that it was very informative. GL Mike
Wirelessly posted (From Your Mom's House) Good Luck Mike!! The problem here is what is called "exhibition of speed." It falls under the same charge as street racing. In a nutshell, you still get charged even if you DO NOT exceed the posted speed limit. So if you line up against someone, rev your engine or lay a wheel when the light turns green...basically, if it LOOKS like intent to race, you could be fucked.
But there was no exhibition of speed, just revving, and pulling away like you normally would from a light. Or this is what I took from post one.
Wirelessly posted (From Your Mom's House) revving at a red light = falls into this category. Problem is, both drivers revved at each other and one of them took off on the green light, like it was a race.
I know all too well how a "free flowing" exhaust attracts cops. We share a parking lot with Sandy Springs police dispatch and I've had cops yell at me for going 5-10mph. Noise != speed. I wish you the best of luck fighting it. When's the court date?
You'll be fine, it's not about finding you guilty, it's about making "payroll", you'll see. You are the "Georgia Solution" for "not increasing taxes"! Pay up baby! That's all they want!
Lawyer had other commitments so somehow he had it pushed back. As much as I'd like this over with I'd like to hold on to my money as long as possible.
Alright so I went to court today and learned a little more. All I can say is I am glad I have a lawyer. My court date has now been pushed back to the 26th. Turns out there is a lot more drama than I knew about. Turns out the guy in the other car was drunk and that was why the officer let me go even with a street racing ticket. Normally they take you away on those but the officer went back to assist the other one. A few days after the incident they managed to match the other guys car to hit and run accident that happened that night. They want to finish his case first and then come after me for being involved. This is really turning to shit fast.
Sounds like it is turning to shit for the other guy right now, not you. I wouldn't worry about that. If your lawyer is feeding you angst(which he may not be, but if he is) don't let him scare you, they will do that shit to manipulate you, usually for money. Don't put up with that if it is happening. Your case is still what it is. You did not race the guy, you were not drunk and not guilty of a hit and run, that story is not your story, or your problem, you had nothing to do with it, don't let them overlap the two cases! It is your lawyers charge to separate these two cases! That is why you have a lawyer! This other chooch has big problems, not you! So what; you revved your engine, does that make your the catalyst for all that , hell no! They let you go because they new you were not a risk. That says allot right there. Your lawyer should be all over that! Bottom line, I am going to assume the prosecutor will try to overlap these cases, lawyer will meet with prosecutor and your lawyer will plea bargain. Then you will cough up cash and probably get hit with reckless or a lesser charge. Conclusion the municipality will get the cash they want out of you, your lawyer will get the cash he wants out of you and you will never rev your engine or drive fast on city streets around here, especially if they put you on probo which they probably will. Welcome to my world mthfkr! (I could be wrong). My 2 cents (or possibly non-cents)!
what dumb friggin' luck! sucks dude, but it will all be worth it in the end. You never know, you might get a good laugh in the years to come!
Man in hindsight though.....just think how bad it 'could' have went if you did race him? Wow that would've likely ended so badly.
Court date is now tommorow. The other guy plead guilty to dui and leaving the scene of an accident. He is going to be spending the next 30 days in jail. My lawyer said there was no mention of any street racing so hopefully this will be good for me. Since he settled they moved my case up to his spot. Finally this will all be over.
lol you mean for the other guy. and yeah mike, you need to make sure your lawyer makes no mention of the other dude in your defense. as far as your case is concerned the other guy was an inanimate object. the more the prosecutors try to bring up the other guy, the more the judge is gonna pin you as an accomplice or some BS
So what happened? I hope you didn't get locked up! Kokopelli Kokopelli is offline Senior Member * Send Message * User Lists Last Activity: 03-24-2010 08:39 AM
just went through this thread. lawyers.. get a good one we you need it, they're expensive but it pays off. i have a friend who drinks too much. had 3 duis, No2 got him a day in jail and 12 months of probation, including random drug tests.. about a year ago, he ran the back of his pickup into a lawyer's car, paniced and ran. was drunk as a skunk. went about 1/4 a way pulled over into a grocery store parking lot and waited. cops came along and arrested him. there was some discussion about him arguing with the cop, though i know there was no resistance other than his mouth.. so... 3rd dui, hit and run, hit a local lawyer who's kids were in the car, his lawyer got him 5 days in the local poky and 1 year probation.. lawyer worked magic basically. told him at the end that was sweatin bullets trying to keep him out of prison.. i've seen others less well lawyered up go to jail for 12 months for the same or a bit less. one more time and he'll be sent to big-boy prison.... lawyers can be worth their sometimes heavy price.... whats a few thousand dollars to spending 12 months bunked up with bubba? with something like what was described in this thread.. racing but not (comes down to a upset cop with a grudge or just a hardon for kids in tricked out cars) a good lawyer talks to someone who knows someone who knows someone who talks to the cop/da/judge and gets the charges reduced to something you can deal with... seen it happen .. works unless you are famous.. famous folks dont get let off these days.. makes to much noise.
Apparently you haven't read the entire thread....he got a lawyer and the court date was yesterday. I talked (texted) with him as he was walking into the court house. I haven't heard from him since, Rick hasn't heard from him, and he hasn't signed on since yesterday morning. Naturally I'm worried about what happened as I consider him a good friend.
Maybe.....they've been consulting about how to beat my old 18g times but I've yet to see it.....speaking of which the dude in Charlotte that bought my 2.0L clocked a 11.81 with his evo3 16g......OH SO CLOSE!
We all hope he's ok and not in the poky tonight. Just sucks that he won't/can't answer his cell.... You ok dude?
I would guess the odds of him getting locked up at this point are minimal. If they were going to throw him in jail, they would have done it when they pulled him over originally.
What is his real name? I might be able to tell you if he is in a jail/prison/strip club with the magic of "contacts".
