Thanks, the car worked well, Leh was confidently able to push her. He is a great wheel and she is a good girl
Woot... just got asked to be a guest speaker at the PCA social tonight about winning the event. Humm... dang wish I hadn't shaved my head now.. lol
No.. Leh actually had to shave them off late night in a parking lot. We had Excellence mag fly out to shoot and cover us for the last two legs of the event for a large write up they are doing on us winning. So right now my hair is just really really short... lol
*Spits the apple he's eating on the monitor* Dude seriously you bout made me choke there.:rofl::rofl::rofl:
http://www.autoblog.com/2010/05/10/2010-one-lap-of-america-no-3-porsche-911-gt2-outlasts-all-come/ Made it to Autoblog...congrats!
Sucks that this is over I looked forward to this thread being updated everyday. So whats next for Topspeed and the GT2?
We plan on doing the ultimate track car challenge, sebring time attack, and some pca events. All that along with our normal monthly private track events... which by the way the next one will be at Roebling Road June 18th. I will start a new thread for our TopSpeed Track events tomorrow.. they rock!!
Since you guys have experienced this (OLoA) multiple times, can you give an estimate (less car) of how much it costs? Just wondering how much the hotels, gas, food, etc. equal up to, as well as what all is comped by sponsors. An event like this is something of a dream opportunity for most of us
A few Porsche builds and money made back. I see you guys already had a white Porsche in the shop yesterday Let the business ROLL! No ROI in OLOA my foot!
Actually getting two separate articles in the Top P-car mag alone cover the ROI. At this point the write up PCA is going to give us, my speech at the PCA social, plus all the tunes, and car setups we have already booked because of the win are just icing on the cake.. So yeah Dominating OLOA has already shown us a HUGE ROI.
Can I get an itemized listing so I can know where I can cut costs...I WILL do this in the next few years.
The RS that ran was the backup car for the 1st place GTR from last year. It is Jon K's D-spec autocross car...
entry $2700 tires you HAVE to buy from tire rack - $1,200 ish food for 10 days (don't forget travel up and back, you could not eat and save money. or taco bell $1 menu, car won't smell too good after 10 days) hotel for 10 days (or sleep in your car or tent for 10 days). gas for the 3000 - 4000 miles of the event, plus getting there and back. car wash, oil change, booze money, alignment, brake pads and fluid. luke
Rough estimate entry fee - 2700 SVRA membership - 150/per so $300 10 days of hotel - $85/avg = $850 5 tires from tirerack - $1500 (more if you do testing) Gas - 4500miles total including trip there and back @ 20mpg and $3.15/gal = $708 Race Gas - 3-4 gals each track event and there are 15 road events x 3.5 x 8.50/gal = $446 Just that alone gives you $6504, and doesn't include food or misc items you get along the way. I think we cut just about as much out of our onelap budget as possible.. if we had the budget to blow we could have used up an easy 10k running onelap.
