hey guys i want to fit the rota grid 18x9.5 on 03 wrx sedan. i`m in progress of buying new suspension parts due to my blown struts, and i`m leaning towards the tokico-d specs + rce blacks... however, i realize that i can just get the bc coilovers and have the adjustability that i`ll need to fit the wheel, but i really have no reason to be riding on coilovers and i really think that rce black + tokico will out-last/ out-handle/ out-comfort the cheap coilover set-up... so, 1. will the 9.5 grids fit on the car with tokico d + rce blacks with some fender modifications? (i`ll probably buy camber kit for the front and bolts in the rear also) 2. if not what are my other options for concave rims that will fit tokico and rce set-up? 3. are the bc racing coilovers really that bad for handling and dd? all this for the damn concave rims arghhh.. i`m so sold on the looks
Will 18x9.5 fit yes with some fender work. If you go with tokico + RCE you will have to have adjustable camber plates. I can not speak on the BC coilovers just yet butt I do hope to buy a set soon. What tire size are you looking to run? Oh and good luck with all of this.
i am now running 17x9.5 with a 30 off set and they rub in the rear. i am rolling the fenders and have to run at least -2.0 degrees of camber. im guessing that it depends on the off set of the 18x9.5 and the adjustability of the suspension that you go with that will make the difference on if they will fit or not with out to much fender work
offset on the rim is 38 and i want to go with 235mm tires. if i need to run -2 camber at the rear, i`m guessing i`ll need more than camber bolts?
18X9.5/38 will probably fit closely to what mine is. and yea, probably going to need some adjustable lateral links. i just picked some up off of ebay for around $175. also you will need to roll your fenders and maybe even pull them with the 18's
yes, i have the whitelines but from my previous wreck i guess the threads got messed up and i could not get the full adjustment out of them anymore. for the set of whiteline is cost from $380-$450 and for just the front arms it cost about $270. i got the godspeed links from ebay for $165 and they look identicle to the obx and cusco links.
You want to run a 235 on a 9.5"? Enjoy to the stretch and poke world of negative camber Can you go 245 at least?
Wow a 235 would be no good.... I am running a 245 on my 9" wheels and when I change I will go too a 255.
im running stock size 225/45r17 on 9.5. streched for now untill they are toast then im going to go with 255. and yes they are stretched, but not as bad as i thought it would be
No the stretch would not be that bad. Butt I just do not see the point in running a wide wheel with with out enough tire too cover it properly....
i thought running smaller tire would make the job easier but i gues not... just got off the phone with kieren from gte and he is strongly avising me not to buy the rims haha knowing my plans, i would assume buying the bc coils over the d-spec + rce black combo would better suit me right? although i get this strange feeling that my car would be more comfortbale/better handling with the combo, bc gives me the adjustability and it is rebuildable so... yea still split on the suspension also.
"Hellaflush" aside, you buy the wider wheels to get the bigger tires without ballooning or stretching issues. All the west coast hellaflush guys are nuts
i would consider other wheel options but i must admit i am hooked on the concave looks any suggestions??
looks like bc coils will be on its way to my door soon... am i making the right decision? i`m searching on nabisco like hell trying to find people's responce... so far, everyone swears by the d-specs, but only some crave about the bc
i think it kinda depends on what you want out of the suspension and how low you plan on driving around. I have the dspecs and am really satisfied with them, and if the rce blacks aren't a low enough ride for you then go for the coilovers. but in my experience with my previous experience with my cars on coilovers, i would set the ride height and never touch them again and that to me seemed like a bit of a waste. if the hellaflush look is what your going for then by all means go for it, do the bc's but prepared to do some more work to get the look you want
Well im running the bcs as well and they are great!! Im running a 18x9 plus 38 ssr sp1. Tire size is 245 35 18. I plan on going with a 255 35 soon though if i dont sell them. I had my rears rolled but thats it!!!! I think the grids will fit fine with a little work and coils, but coils are a must imo.
Sorta on topic but would 245/35/19 look badly stretched on a 9.5" rim? Can't find pics but a little stretch doesn't bother me.
Any idea how much from the tread to the rim stretch? I'm going 9.5" front and 10" on my BMW for nice aggressive look. I wants concavity!
I have 245/35/17 on a 9" wheel with no stretch. Shoot me a pm with your # and I will shoot you a close up pic.....
just some insight here, i have put my 17x9.5 rota grids with 225/45r17 on and had a few issues with the right rear rubbing a good bit. i had to roll my fenders ( i did it with a rubber mallet but should get profeshionally done to look the best. also i had to adjust my hight a few times to get it rite plus a few alignments also. hope this info helps you out
