Looking for some gear for Motocross, specifically a pair of Alpinestar or Shift brand boots and Arai or HJC brand helmet.

    Thanks! :)

Try stuff on in store (like Cyclegear) and buy online!

    Much better prices that way.

Cyclegear on Alpharetta Highway will get you what you need. They have good prices too.

Which boots are you looking at?

There's a Cyclegear near me (off Cobb Pwky) that I'll probably go into this weekend. Currently I am debating budget. On one hand I could have a look at Shift Commando's or Alpinestars Tech 3. On the other hand I could consider going a bit higher into the Tech 10 realm. Keep in mind that I also need a new helmet. I could buy a helmet and cheaper boots ($200-300) for the price of the Tech 10s

The 10's are worth every penny. If you decide on going with the 3's then move up to the 10's you will ask yourself why you ever thought of the 3's. The 10's feel like sneakers but offer awesome protection.

What color is your bike? I have a MX helmet I don't use anymore.

    Here it is:

http://www.fulmerhelmets.com/Product/afr.html (Its the flat blue one.)

I took a nasty spill with it on which ended my MX career, but it only got scratched. I used it for DH but now that I can't do that anymore I have no use for it.

If you took a spill with the Helmet on, your helmet is no longer safe.

    That seems a bit vague...

I had the helmet looked at by my mechanic. He said no harm was done. The inner and outer shell have no signs of damage or cracks. I didn't hit the ground with my head either. I hit the ground, then slid on my head. Like I said its only scratched.

It is a vague statement but most feel when dealing with something as important as your head, its worth it to be safe.

Since the bike is a Yami, it's Blue and White :) I appreciate the offer on the helmet but that would put me in the same spot I am in currently (riding with a "used" helmet).

    I gotcha. Just offering.

Fox Racing makes some nice boots as well. Their F3R's are very comfortable and affordable.

I buy most of my MX Gear from motosport.com Tech10s are overkill for the casual rider. A tech 7 is plenty for most.
    Remember on helmets.
Is your head worth $100 or $400?
www.newenough.com has some deals some times too.

After trying on the Alpinestars lineup and re-reviewing the budget I went with the Tech 7s. Haven't had a chance to go riding with them yet, but I am stoked and really looking forward to it :) Cyclegear didn't carry that many helmets. Ideally, I want the Arai XD-3 but it is just $500 for bling. Hence the HJC CL-X6 or similar.

Good choice on the boots. I have owned my 7's for many years and love them.
