I'll try and go. I have not been up there since the last time I went up with you Matt. That was way back in 2008 when I had the RX8.
That's messed up that it has been that long for both of us. I don't care about the driving all that much anymore. Just getting out and away from things for a few days is the big draw for me.
I disagree, especially if you've never been before. However, avoid Fontana, you're definitely not missing much there I'd be interested. Its been a while since I've been up in the mountains.
good scenery, but too many cops and retards around. any number of roads within a 45 minute drive are just as nice but you pretty much proved my point, "especially if you've never been before". you go as one of those things to do in life and get the "I BEEN THERE" t-shirt
The last 3 times I've been I drove down the Dragon but no where hard. It was nice to have the scenery and the relaxation of nature all around you. Wife and I LOVE taking Cherohala Skyway.
TOD is fun . Its better IF you can get a solid run in without getting behind a slow guy on a chopper or a local trying to get home (pretty much the case with any mountain road). 28 and the skyway are right there though and both are just as good. I'm up for sept.24-26
I guess. It's a decent cruising road to just roll through with a few friends. The roads up there make for great seasonal return visits, especially in Autumn.
I've always enjoyed the Dragon meets. It was less fun with the R32 group but the driving was better, go figure. I'll try and make this one. Anyone want to split a room?
 at this point, we're looking at having cabins only so...there will be rooms to be split-ish.
For the past few weeks, I've been given the same exact schedule. Thursday through Monday, 2 to 10 PM. I'm just assuming it's gonna be my schedule for a LONG time.
Actually what did happen that day? Too fast or just slid on an unfortunate patch of ice with summer tires?
I want to go. I will need to split a cabin with someone though. I would like to go up the 22nd and come back the 26th. So if someone is doing that and needs a cabinmate, then drop me a PM or call/text if you have my number.
Was only going 10-15 mph but I was playing around and sliding on purpose. The road was completely iced over for miles and I was on Azenis. Thought I could have some fun and got a little cocky after a few successful drifts. Just scraped the bumper so it was no big deal.
it's the weekend before. I'm planning on taking the ENTIRE week off... still trying to figure out the damn RV situation. :|
I hope to go up for it Getting some maintenance done @ Battleground next week & need new tires by the mtn expedition. If I have the dough and car is ready to roll, all is good. Also, I had a bumper scrape too. Not as glamorous as drifting though. It was in a Chickfile drive through. Just tired. I didn't even look at first, didn't want to know yet at the time. Ouch! Anyway, I will attend if I can as I missed the last one and am itching for another mtn run myself. Maybe see some of you at Andretti tonight if that is going on.
does anyone ever look at the tailofthedragon.com events calender before they plan these things? It's the s2000 weekend (no offense to anyone viewing this right now that owns a s2000) http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=49&t=805022
When we went during Zdayz it wasn't all that bad (minus the bullshit ticket). Good thing were not trying to stay in Fontana village.
