i have a 04 sti 96k. when i m in first or second gear by letting off from the gas pedal the car makes a clink noise from the rear when i m bearly moving like less than 5miles. Is this normal? or Is there a problem with my differential? any information would be a lot of help, thanks!

Wow... Alex, did you just save this STi from a trip to the Dr??

    Doubtful, but maybe ;)

It is a notorious problem with the older STis. But it normally happens during a quick shift, I am not so sure about a low speed shift. Unless, of course, his bushing is just super gummed. It should be fairly easy to slide under the rear of the car and check.

Common on the older wrx as well, but as you noted, only during a quick shift....this sounds like maybe something different.

Could it be an endlink? Are you suggesting that it is drivetrain or suspension related?

could be one or the other or combination of both. The best thing is get it up in the air and check the condition of the whole car
