I just got a catted Cobb downpipe and want to know if it will bolt up to the stock catback exhaust. The seller also has the Cobb midpipe but I don't want to get it if it only gives minimal power gains. I searched and found it adds 3whp, not sure how true that is. I did find this adapter but I have also seen some post that say I can bolt right up to the catback without any problem.

To sum it up, should I get the midpipe? If so how much is the normal price for a used one.

Should I get the adapter, or just bolt it up to the stock catback?

I think its 3" (from what I have read on the internet). I know the stock is between 2.25" and 2.5" inches (most say its 2.5"). It is a doughnut gasket which is why I am wondering if it would work with the stock setup. Seems like it might, but I'm not sure.

all i can say is go for it... i woudlnt count on it though... just be prepared to run open dp for a bit unless you trade it back to stock

I think the cobb is one of few that will bolt up to stock catback without an adaptor or welding. It has a neck down type adaptor on it.

it will, the cobb unfortunately necks down to 2.5 at the end of the dp...which is freaking retarded b/c the cat back is also 2.5 but ups to 3 at the midpipe back. I cut my cobb dp and welded a new flange on the end so it was a true 3" all the way down.

even *if* you get a modded cobb dp like i made (which you most likely don't if they didn't mention it), you can run a 3" dp to a 2.5" catback...it's not ideal, but it's not going to hurt anything. I did it for almost 25k miles before i left stage 2 for rotated. I was DD'ing my car and didn't want anything louder than stock for exhaust

Thanks, I will bolt it up to the stock, the guy that I bought it from said he thinks it should work and he has 2 WRXs (one is his wifes) and is new to Middle GA. He has a 2.5 small block swap in a bug-eye with I think a VF 39. He also has other stuff for sale on craigslist, really cool guy with lost of knowledge.
