Looks to me like that is an Entrance, not an Exit. Dude is trying to exit in a one way path. I love the casual stick out the leg and trip the lady thing though, and awesome that Security cameras caught the whole thing. I take it you have not be on the NYC subway....or the Philly subway....the turnstiles are both entrances and exits. As pictured below It just looks like there was a sudden rush of people entering at the time. You can also see in the gif another guy right behind the dude following him to exit.
