I am getting mine replaced on Wednesday by Craig @ Glass Works. He came highly recommended from the S2000 Atlanta forum. I'll let you know what I think of his work afterwards.

I am sure we have several people who have had their windshields replaced -- where'd you take it to or who came and did it?

I need mine replaced. I was told insurance would do it for deductible (100) and insurance wouldn't go up. Someone else said they might do it for free because it's on drivers side in line of vision?? But what's this guy charging if you don't mind me asking

I am paying my $100.00 deductible on it. I read a ton of local threads on it over the weekend and I found nothing that indicates a free replacement by anyone. I do not know what he will be billing the insurance company yet but I will let you know tomorrow.

Well it's done. Not only did Craig and his son arrive early, the process took all over 20 minutes. It was nice to see a father & son company for a change. Give him a call today at (404) 272-5109 and let him know Alex with the blue Subaru sent ya :)

My girlfriends Mom is a rep for Safelight, and got two of my co-workers a pretty awesome deal on windshield replacement($185 ish)... I'd be happy to get quotes for anyone who needs them...

    185? that's not bad.
I have a few chips that I've had filled in, but 1 is close enough to my line of vision it might drive me to just replace it.

Yeah... from what my co-workers were saying... it wasn't too much less than they were getting quoted from smaller shops... But I think I'd be more comfortable with a large chain like Safelight that some mom and pop... I had my girlfriends rear window replaced by the lowest bidder a few years back and it looked like hell...

+1 for Craig (Glass Magic). I'm very picky and I had concerns about glass quality etc.

Craig came out the same day I called, high quality glass with all the black-outs, the rear-view mount and some sunscreening up top. I do see some ripples when I look out to the passenger side. Craig does an awesome job and he was fast.

Pricing was surprisingly low for the level of quality. I'd use this guy again on any job I have.

    Winshield and hood damage

So I am coming home from work on 10th street about 9:30pm this evening and from nowhere something huge hits the passenger side of the windshield and leaves a 8" diameter flap of shattered glass hanging and the rest of the windshield cracked top to bottom. Turned around to find out what [or who] hit me and could not find find a trace. Get home and find whatever it was came accross the hood scoop and left a big scrape down the top of it.

Since I carry a $1000 deductable to pay the least insurance possible:

Do the dealers install a better winshield than this vendor at their price?

Can the hood scoop be replaced as a pre-painted assembly; who have we had good experinces with?

    damn chip, that sucks. :(

I looked at the glass Alex had installed and it's definitely a better quality than the OEM glass. And the price is quite nice.

The scoop can be purchased pre-painted AFAIK from the dealer. Otherwise, Artcraft in Smyrna is the body shop to take your car to. Mention wrxatlanta and I'm pretty sure they'll discount the labor or something.

I think I paid $100 to get my windshield replaced and I love it. Windshields don't count against your premium and you get unlimited usage....yesssss!

Regarding the scoops -- I think they are available pre-painted but I would call up Jeff @ Artcraft (ask to speak to Jeff) and tell him you want to come in for a quote. Don't forget to tell them that Alex from WRXAtlanta sent you and that you are a club member. You may want to bring a print-out of your User CP.

Do you pay your standard deductible for a windshield replacement? Need one for my wifes 07 accord sedan. Still trying to figure out who to go with though.

Mine was different than my standard. I just called my insurance to ask who they're willing to accept work from.

Clark Howard was actually talking about this the other day and said that it "CAN" lead to raised rates, etc if you go through the insurance company due to "excessive claims." That being said I got mine done for $185 and they came to the house to do it.

It may do something similar if excessive = a new windshield every year :)

Depends on your deductible. I am unsure of his non-insurance rates; give him a call and ask.

Had him replace the windshield on my wife's TSX 2 weeks ago. $230.00 installed. Haven't gotten a quote for the STi yet.

Also, the number Alex gave above is Craig's cell phone he doesn't check the messages often. You should call the main number to get somebody right away.
