Its short a turbo and a wastegate

Waiting on the new Tial MVR watercooled wastegate and the Precision 5557 Billet wheel turbo

 

watercooled wastegate? Never heard of that! Any benefit to cooling a wastegate?

 

They say that its for engine bays with low airflow, ducted v mounts flat bottoms etc...

 

Makes since and most all the Nissans don't have good airflow in the bays.

Wonder how hot that will raise the cooling system of the car though?

 

Is this thing done yet?

Well Matt said he's short a turbo and a wastegate. If that's all then it's 1 hr away from done minus tuning. It's been a month almost since his last status.

 

Turbo should be here shortly and the wastegate is on back order I think its still a week out.

I just found out what a spool valve is and it looks badass, do they only work on twin scrolls? i didn't think yours was gonna be a twinscroll

 

The turbo I'm getting is twinscroll. It has to be a single scroll manifold with a twinscroll housing

 

that makes sense. i was gonna say, if you had two cylinders blocked off with the spool valve on a twin scroll manifold it would probably explode.

 

Been following the spool valve threads out there and they look fairly interesting.

 

Yeah I'm curious, I actually ended up with a S256 Borgwarner

Got a call that it was on backorder this morning, so I canceled it.

I got the 5857 from Precision with the ported shroud and both the 63 and 82 backside.

 

lol, I could have got it for you. I know of 2 places I deal with that have them. But I am sure the precision will be fine.

Its either this or the Suby goes and I would rather have the suby. I need the money for the construction business.

I'm not sure how many of you on here really know how many project cars or cars period I've had, the 350z make car number 48 since I turned 16. Almost all of them were projects of some type. Theres only been 3 that I haven't finished and I sold off in parts. This is a big project if you don't work at a shop and since I don't work at a shop anymore the likely hood of it getting finished to the point that I'm happy with it is slim.


Also just a quick edit:

Anyone on here that has built there own engine, can tig weld aluminum and steel, and can tune their own car is welcome to talk all the shit they want. Everyone else can shut their mouth.

 

$10K for what? Looks like he is almost finished with it. I doubt it would take $10k to finish.

I was just saying if he could finish it, he would be able to get a lot more than what he is asking for it.

\and just to clarify, I have built my own engine, Tig Welded Aluminum, and tuned one of my own cars before. None of this was done on a Subaru though.

 

Yeah. I would really like to see how this turns out after it's finished. Seems awesome enough to not scrap the project and just sell it as is.

Nah, I could do it and have the resources to do whatever I want. The problem I have is time. I dont have the time to do anything so that is when I have to pay the great vendors on this board to do the work for me. Time = Money
