Hey everyone, I need to get an oil change for the WRX and I don't really want to take my car to the stealership. I live up in Gainesville. Does anyone have any good recommendations of where I can take my car? I would do it myself but I don't have the tools, ramps or jacks to do it and I really don't want to get that stuff right now.

Print out a coupon for SOG or invest in some tools and do it yourself. The sears next to my house uses purolator filters and Valvoline so I take my Cadillac there to get the oil change for $19.95.

I want to put mobile1 in the car and would like to find a place that uses it.

Seems like a good synthetic oil that a lot of people use.

You can purchase oil separately and bring it nearly anywhere and instruct them to use it. Where are you located (nvm just read your profile)? Juston Poole @ Six Star Service in Decatur is a great dealer alternative.

You need to do more reading on it. Mobile 1 is devil spit:)

Seriously, I wouldn't use Mobile 1 in any of my cars anymore.

A lot of people like the German Castrol 0W30 and the Sythetic Rotella T 15W40.
Penzoil Platnium is also good from what I have read.

trust me on this. You don't want to use it. It's good for other cars, but Subaru's don't like it much. You'll burn more oil using mobil1 than most other oils.

You want good synthetic, get Rotella T. :)

Correction 5w-40. The 15w-40 is NOT a synthetic.

I have been using Mobil 1 since my first oil change and never had any issues. I am just about to hit 80,000 miles, and I have never had issues with burning oil off, or had to add extra oil because the tank was low.

The Valvoline 5w40 Synthetic is good stuff. Much better than M1.
The gf's turbo'd miata gets Rotella 5w40 and the bucket gets Motul 8100 5w40.

I can say that I will not be doing it myself but taking it somewhere. So that limits a lot of my options. I also don't want to drive an hour for an oil change.

So I called Subaru of Gwinnett and they want $70 for an oil change. They said that they only use Motul in the WRX. It would be cheaper for me to buy everything and just do it myself. This is why I hate stealerships.

SoG is still running the "Ultimate Oil Change." I think there's coupons on the site. It's $34.88 for the oil change, rotate tires, etc, etc. I just got mailed some coupons since I just had my oil change done there......with a coupon.

    http://www.subaruofgwinnett.com/specials/service.htm

Print the coupon at the bottom. $34.88

I am sure that does not include Motul or any type of Sythetic Oil.

According to the coupon, "Change engine oil per specifications for your Subaru model" and in the fine print, "6 cylinder or Turbo models may be slightly higher. Synthetic oil slightly higher."

I didn't really look at the bottom dollar when I paid. I think it was close to $40 but I know they put Mobile 1 in the car. *shrug* I was just passing it along.

sog dropped Mobile 1 about 3 months ago the service guy said. The coupon only saves $5 on the price of the oil change when using synthetic oil and having at turbo charged car. So it's not really a good deal at all.

I change all of my vehicles oil (truck, S2000, Civic)... it's really not that hard and it saves a ton of money and time. All you need a good set of ramps, socket set, oil pan, and a funnel...

I am going to get the stuff and do it myself. Screw paying $70 for it.

If you're thin enough, and your ride's stock height (don't know anything about your setup), you can probably just shimmy under the car without ramps. That's how I did it for the first year or so.

    ramps are a sweet investment

i enjoy being able to just drive up, change the oil quickly and back right off of them without worrying about jackstands

I am going to look into getting ramps.

You can order them online or visit your local auto parts store -- most stores carry the brand Rhino Ramps. Harbor Freight is currently having a small sale on their jacks, check them out.
