Did you wax the roof really well before install that vinyl? I would've done the CF look....thinking of that on the BMW. But the car looks very slick. Props.
Couple tips... The 3M DiNoc is the only CF look stuff worth it's salt. Also, keep wax AWAY from it. I would even use painter's tape to tape it off before applying wax anywhere near it.... it gets down into the debossed pattern and looks like hell. Not personal experience, just passing what I've heard and seen first hand with a few CF wrap....
I know to keep wax off the vinyl but they say to wax the paint before putting on the vinyl else when you pull it off it could grab the paint so well it'll pull the paint itself off. The wax leaves a layer yet still lets the vinyl adhere. I know when my brother had a vinyl sticker on his old truck it pulled the paint off in tiny bubbles (factory paint too) when he removed it. SUCKED for him. Yeah the 3M DiNoc is tits.
Work in progress! Back in April I updated the stereo with a tremendous amount of help from slade and bixs and Alex. The 4 of us slaved over an entire weekend to get it complete. But I'm not 100% satisfied with it just yet, so sometime in the very near future, Ryan is going to get the car back and tweak it a little more. I also got new sponsorship today and will post pics of that in a bit! or Matto can do it for me.
Stereo progress! What it's looked like since April. Not pretty, but functional: Playing around with somd MDF: Tossed some carpet over the MDF: More complete: All of these were taken with the phone. I'll get the 5100 out there and see what it can do. I'm very happy with the progress and Ryan Slade, as usual did some fantastic work in a short amount of time to get me fixed up!
which part? The initial install took 4 of us the better part of 3 days. However, there was a lot of downtime in that 3 days. Building the cover took only a few hours, including eating, drinking, and watching some football.
we believe it was a power wire that became loose...I'm also thinking that the gain on the sub channel somehow managed twist itself to max, thus overpowering the amp. That mixed with the loose power wire from the battery = insta-protection mode.
