    Hello everyone,

Before I moved down to GA, 'touchless' service was common place and I could go to several shops with touchless machines. Now I live in the middle of nowhere and after a full day of searching I found a shop which 'claimed' to be able to do this without the touchless machines. Unfortunately, that turned out to be untrue and they managed to scrape up one of my rims pretty bad. Needless to say I'll be getting another rim once the shop and I come to an agreement.

I'm planning to get some additonal work done to my car in ATL once my parts get in and I'd like to get the rim swaped out on the same day. As much as I love driving my car, it gets a bit tiresome having to drive 5hours every time I need some work done so it would be easier to just have it done in one trip.

All that said, I'm looking for a tire shop capable of mounting a tire on a rim without damaging the finish and/or rim. Suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Butch

GTE has a good reputation for a reason. Give them a call.

Smyrna Tire or GTE are both great places. GTE is significantly more expensive, while Smyrna Tire is a little bit more relaxed.

GTE has had the top rep in atlanta for around 30 years or more. back when the only game in town was turbo tom turboing L-series datsun motors in 510s, and 240zs everyone took their cars to GTE for hi-po setups.

there are other shops that are good, and good enough too but if you're gonna make a trip to atlanta anyway you cant go wrong there.

Is Smyrna Tire the place that looks like a hole in the wall? Grey building and across from that new shell gas station on south cobb?
I was kind of skeptical of going but it's right by me in-laws house so a little close for me.

    They finally painted it?

It does look like a whole in the wall; however, they're courteous and easy to work with.

Yeah I'd be there to help if we were in the middle of the Amazon rain-forest in our Defender 90s...

Watched the amigos use starter fluid countless times to set a bead on the bobcat. No worse than the hopped up propane tank you see at tire shops.

Wrong.... Bobcat tires are 12 to 14 ply. I agree I have seen guys do it I have also seen tires blow apart and the steel beads tear an arm apart.... Just take it to someone to get it done right.
