    Hello all...

Well my truck got broken into yesterday and they ended up stealing one of my Forester keys and fobs. So my question is that I know there are blank transponder keys for sale all around like ebay, but I have to have the dealership "flash" the key and the immobilizer right? I'm not worried about the key fob, I can buy a replacement for cheap and reprogram both of them with new codes.

The car is an '05 Forester XT, I am almost positive the keys are transponder type.

Any help would be appreciated. :wavey:

well the problem is that they also stole a checkbook, so they do have my address and a key to my car... Just want to be on the safe side.

I just had a new Immobilizer key made. They have to have all Keys and fobs to re-program- I am pretty sure that getting your keys reset will render the stolen key useless for starting the car, but since locks are the same they could still gain entry to the car.

    Sorry to hear about that.

If you decide to get a new key I got one of these and am very happy with it ( I hated the fob). Obviuosly the key head is somewhat large but I like it a lot

I'm sure you can use that p/n and check with Subaru dealer. Wonder if this same key will work with my 05' STi and 10' Forester. Be great to have just one key without the remote. Anyone know if this will work on my cars?

    SOG

Someone on here also notched their key fob and cut the key down to make it one piece also. neat little DIY mod.

I know some insurance companies strongly suggest that you replace door locks and ignition tumbler when keys are stolen.

    Who carries a checkbook anymore?

I did it with a bench grinder but would opt for the key above.

I wouldn't suggest getting the key I posted above from ebay. It is pure junk and I am debating on returning it.

Not sure how I missed this thread... I believe it is a Tribeca key? Got mine at SOG from Lisa for like $80. So much nicer than having the crappy LGT fob. The LGT fob pushes WAY too easy (lock and unlock jiggling around in your pocket). Zero issues programming it.

I actually made it with a bunch of parts off of ebay. The electronics are from your style key/remote, The case is actually for a Honda of some sort. The blank key portion was the hardest part to find. I think I have a line on them now that will just slide into the Honda case. I am going to make another one for myself and then offer the remainder to the forum members. I am guessing the most expensive part will be finding a used key like you have. I have found them on ebay from salvage yards. You need this key so you can get the electronics and the transponder. Then you will have to get someone like King to program the transponder to your car.

Blanks are coming from China so it might be 2-3 weeks before I know for sure if I can make another shell fairly cheap.

Nah, it really isnt that much work if you have a bench grinder and a dremel.
