Any way of testing the ABS system via a tactrix cable and whatever software on a laptop? I know dumb weird question. I'm having issues with the front driver side rotor being warped from pressing the brake to a certain point. It's not hard braking either. I can hear the ABS kicking in on the front driver side. I've removed and only used a towel to wipe the brake dust off the ABS sensor on all four sides. Could it be the sensor or controller? I've already replaced the pads, rotors, bleed the fluid.
Did you bleed the fluid in the ABS unit? It could also be a bad caliper or your caliper going bad. My cadillac was doing the same thing until I changed out that caliper.
Well you can trigger the ABS system...IIRC the testing procedure is in the shop manual. I'll have a look in a few minutes. But perhaps the test cycle will free it up if it is indeed stuck like you think. Also make sure that the brake line and the other line are properly tightened down. I had ABS triggering once and it was because one of those was loose.
Rebuild it yourself. You can buy the rebuild kit from subaru and takes about ten minutes after you have the caliper off.
might take more than ten minutes if you haven't done it before. the pain is getting the pistons out. I've rigged up a motorcycle brake lever to push them out on the bench when doing a rebuild. I've seen people blow them out with an airhose and smash fingers, rather funny actually.
Since we're on the subject -- Here's how to bleed the brakes in the correct order: http://wrxatlanta.com/maintenance/g...ODIC MAINTENANCE SERVICES/18. Yw -- that's what the PDFs are there for I havent finished the page to display all of the information so for now you're left poking in the dark.
I had it at one time but dont know where it is now. I know ebay has them for a few bucks or find someone on here that will send it to you.
pm me your email, but if there is an issue with the ABS then it will throw a code. I've pulled quite a few Brembos apart, besides destroyed dust boots I've found the lower piston to have some trash in them. Uneven pad wear will be a sign of problems, easy to pull and check.
