Hey I'll be putting new rubber on my Legacy shortly. I'm looking for something that has a little more bite then I have now. Size - 205-55-16 Current Tire Goodyear Eagle ResponseEdge I'm kind of eyeballing the following tires. Obviously, I'm trying to work within a budget. Basically what I'm wanting out of my tires is something thats going to grip the road good during hard cornering (mountain runs). Whatever I choose, I'll be using it as a daily set over the summer since I'm sure that any tire worth a damn isn't going to last until winter with as much as I drive. Come winter time, I'll probably put the ResponseEdge tires back on (they have treated me good this winter and still have decent tread left on them). Road noise isn't really a concern, and the ride comfort isn't a concern either. On my alignment I run 0 toe on all 4 wheels, factor rear camber, and as far negative as I can get with the factor front camber adjustments. Current suspension is 04 WRX stock struts / springs. Each tire listed below is a clickable link. Please give some opinions on what tires look like they would suit me best Kuhmo Ecsta SPT Kuhmo Ecsta ASX BFGoodrich g-Force Sport Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Yokohama Sdrive Dunlop Direzza DZ101 As well, what kind of options on tire size do I have? Would I be safe running a 215 or a 225? More rubber in contact with the road = a little more grip right?
I am currently on the ASX and they are a good all season tire but I wouldn't consider them a performance tire. I should be on s-drives in a few weeks, I've heard good things.
Spt's came on my car and were ok no problems, now I have the direzzas which are also good, no problems. lol Sorry i dont really have any interesting things to say about either. The direzzas seem a lil better in the rain than the khumos.
I liked the BFG g-force when they were on my car. I got pretty decent mileage out of them and they were pretty grippy on the twisties. I have hankook ventus v-12s now but have yet to really put them to the test.
Just ordered the S-drives (235/40) with some 17x8 Rota G-Forces. Should be here in a week. I'll let you know how they are.
I drove on the kumho SPTs and now on S-drives... kumhos were too soft but pretty decent in wet along with a quiet tire noise, but the s drive has a much better sidewall stiffness but feels a bit heavier despite its smaller size (i was on 225 with kumhos and back to 205 for s drives). But if you can find a set of hankook rs-2 (discontinued) that was the best set of tires i ever driven on and i drove on them for 2 years (roughly 40k miles).
Been on the S-Drives for a few weeks now. Really love them. MUCH better grip than the ASX's I was on before. Haven't really pushed them though, not much opportunity for that in atlanta traffic.
Continental DW are great tires.... You may aslo want to look into the new General G-MAX AS-03. There built by Continental but should be a little better price then the DW.
Not on my car. But I have been to a ride and drive for work so yes I have driven on them they were on a BMW 3 series....
i have 225 50 16 dunlap star specs on my wrx wagon now. i love them and ive done it all with them. from 2 track days to rallyx events they are pretty amazing.
