you're just a single 'I' i don't know who all's going up, looks like we get to party down again, good sir
the problem with going on these dates is that THP will be out in full force by then. there will be very little "fun" to be had on the roads
meh..in the 9 years I've been going up there, I've never ran into any issues. That's spring, summer, or fall/winter. I guess it helps that I stay off the dragon itself and drive many of the other, more fun roads up there. And I tend to stay in NC rather than passing into TN.
The Dragon is overrated. The meet is a blast but the Dragon itself...meh. There are plenty of other roads around and nearby that are way funner.
I would be interested. I would need someone to stay with and I have to see what my budget looks like in late March.
when I went up back in Sept, we stayed in Watershed 11. http://www.watershedcabins.com/cabin-details/items/watershed-11.html I wouldn't mind staying there again. We had 5 of us in there comfortably. 8 looks pretty awesome too http://www.watershedcabins.com/cabin-details/items/watershed-08.html
How was the split for the cabin last time, Matt? Right now it looks promising that I could go and I would have the 2011 STI sedan to play with up there.
I want to say we had one person pay per night or something. But we were there for 3 nights so I'm not exactly sure how it worked out. It was so long ago
I might be in for this though I doubt Ill stay in a cabin. Last time I was there there was TSP all over the dragon and I got pulled over by Blount County but they let me go with a warning. But like whats been said, the dragon is alright but the Cherohala Skyway and Hwy 28 are right there, are just as good if not better, and tend to have less people on them.
Hmmm, round two?? Could be fun. And we do owe Brett another go, since he was out of town this past weekend :]
i dunno, ours was pretty chill this past weekend. most of the drama llama's have (thankfully) moved out of state or no longer attend the meets
Yeah. It's in Tennessee. But I've never been. I'd like to, but I probably won't get a chance to. My work/school schedule is pretty much set in stone.
Geography lesson of the day for you Peter http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=US-129+N&daddr=US-129+N%2FState+Hwy+115&hl=en&geocode=FSgnHQIdanj_-g%3BFRoJHgIdrWL--g&mra=me&mrsp=1,0&sz=13&sll=35.485135,-83.916149&sspn=0.102318,0.197754&ie=UTF8&ll=35.490306,-83.948936&spn=0.102311,0.263157&z=13
some faggot teetotaler with orange wheels and an evo had a stick up his ass edit: and an ugly girlfriend, only compounding the issue
They were doing that while they cleared a land slide on the TN side. They are not doing that now. During the day it might as well be shut down as the TNHP and Sheriffs will be all over the place.
negative, we didn't see a single one, and we made 3 runs and had a group take the skyway home. It's not quite season time yet. Even with cops, as long as you drive within normal limits, don't cross the 2x yellow and don't act like a general asshat, they don't much mess with you. They know why you're up there...
You are right. They have not showed up yet. They will be out in force by the time we head up at the end of April. I don't plan to drive the Dragon. Too much risk of coasting over the limit down hill and getting a ticket.
thats exactly what happened to me. right at the end going north where the big pull off is a Blount County motorcycle cop walked out into the middle of the road and pulled me over for 50 in a 30 and I was just coasting down the hill. He said I was lucky to get a warning because "TSP doesn't give warnings."
yeah they do...and if it's your first ticket in TN, it's only like $20 or something, they have some first time offenders rule. I know somebody pulled over just outside the north end who was going for gas, brakes were actually smoking when he stopped...TSP laughed, wrote him the ticket, he mailed in the $20 and we all had a laugh
heard about that. Heard it was something stupid like 77/45. lucky guy EDIT: We all laughed when dontcallitarex said honda fits handled better than stock wrx's but I think he was actually right
