So I was rushing the install of my steering wheel and lost the correct position of the sensor. Does anyone know how I can recalibrate the sensor?
yeah, pull it pull back apart and realign the splines to the correct spot. no other choice and next time mark your parts so you don't have to go through this again
I did that, but the problem is that the sensor can spin freely indefinitely, unlike the clock spring that'll stop at 3.25 turns.
The turn to turn is written on the front of the roll connector ("clockspring"). IIRC it is in the writing on the yellow sticker. Gently rotate the roll connector all the way to the left and then count the number of full rotations it takes to get to full lock in the right direction. Then, simply, rotate the roll connect to the left direction 1/2 as many times. That'll be dead center.
Thanks Alex, I meant to call you yesterday but I was messing around with the stupid roll connector all day. I found that my problem isn't with the clockspring, but the steering position sensor behind it. The two were separated when I yanked the wheel off and now the position sensor is totally not aligned to the original center anymore. I don't think the sensor is dead, but just not aligned, so I'm hoping it just needs to be recalibrated. On that note, if anyone is willing to let me try out their sensor, I have a case of whatever beer you desire in it for ya.
