this is only barely audio related.

I have a sealed 12" sub box with a Polk Momo loaded. I hadn't taken the time to secure it as I'm still weighing in a replacement amp and where its getting mounted.

However, it sliding around and bunching up the carpet was getting old.

Occasionally I take it out to make room for a wheel chair, but when its empty with only my roadside bag (jump cables, little tire iron, flares etc) also slides and bunches it up.

Advance had a sale on rubberize coating. 2 cans for $7.

So I pulled out the carpet, then pulled out the fiberboard that covers the spare. I masked off the foam (not sure why, just felt like it), hit it with Krylon primer, then hit both sides with rubberize coat, let it 'cook' under a pair of 400watt shop lamps.

I also hit the bolt and cup washer with rubberize, got sick of em rattling.

Slapped it back in and threw the carpet over it. Put bag & sub back in. Hasn't slid since. Pics later.

notes: Krylon still makes best rattle can primer imo. The rubberize is under extremely high pressure in the can compared to paint, velocity and spread is actually very good. I don't care if a product says it 'can' be applied directly to surface. Doing it right involves priming.

Interesting -- so you put the textured paint on the cardboard and that has prevented the carpet from sliding above it? I use bungie cords connected to the jack mounting spot to hold my 10" ID sub against the drivers side wall. Its ghetto, but it works :) I also cut plywood to create a perfect fit false floor that can actually hold some weight...unlike the OEM cardboard/fiberboard.

i'd contemplated making a new cutout, but use of powertools at my house is a problem when my active time is after 11pm due to my job

That's why I close the garage door and turn up the tunes

My garage is deadened for that reason. Cause old people suck in my culdasac. Get the evil eye and silent treatment every time I do something they dislike. Oh well, not trying to please anyone anymore.

That's funny, my neighbors tell me to turn up the volume to drown out the sirens and gunfire.

    Lol old people.
So they must really hate it when you drive out of the neighborhood.
(Assuming your exhaust isn't exactly OEM quiet)

actually, my problem is the rest of my house above the garage.

The boxer rumble has replaced the rooster in the AM.

the only thing is, even with some primer soaking into the pourous fiber-board, the edges still want to fray.

otherwise; i am pleased. Subwoofer and carpet no slide~
