04 center to 05+ center help

    If I want to swap out my center console to get the additional cup holder, what all do i need?

    the first thing i see is having to cut a hole for the mirror control.

    any insight would be appreciated...

    Honestly, you don't need the mirror controls. How often do you touch them? Howsabout never. I buried mine beneath the actual console. You need the following pieces...

    1. New silver trim pieces: HVAC (Upper), Shifter Surround, Double-Din
    2. HVAC controls
    3. New shift boot + trim ring
    4. New emergency brake boot + trim ring
    5. New emergency brake assembly
    6. 2005+ center console, upper (part with cup holders)
    7. 2005+ center console, lower
    8. 2005+ center console armrest
    9. 2005+ dash trim surround
    10. 2005+ upper hvac vent support bracket
    11. 2005+ dash trim surround support

    I may have missed a piece, but that's all that comes to mind.

    well i want it to look super clean, and I do have to share the car about twice a year, so I'll probably still work it in.

    But honestly, i was not wanting the HVAC and up replaced, just the center down.

    ungh. i need to look more closely at the 05 and think some more....

    isn't there a variation of center console that includes 2 cup holders? I seem to remember king having one once upon a time

    02 ~ 04 have the single cup down the ctr.

    05~06 have a dual, have the handbrake moved and the mirror controls gone, and also kind of morph up into the HVAC unit.

    DON'T JUDGE ME ~~ :| :wiggle:

    If you want a proper installation, get at least the upgraded driver's side door and extend the wiring harness for the mirror controls. Bam, stock.

    I just did this myself along with my buddy. If you have any Q, PM me. My journal has a few tips/tricks that weren't mentioned anywhere.

    You don't need to use the updated HVAC if you buy a TR / Saab manual HVAC bezel for the console. It's $70 piece, but that'll save you from having to install the auto HVAC.
